So the worst part is there isn't another episode now until September. On the good side though, this episode was fantastic. Any doubts I had in Studio B/DHX have gone, I trust them wholeheartedly once more. It's confirmed to me now that as a result of the spin off show, the amount of bronies pestering for fan service, and Hasbro's stupid decisions, that all the animators were doing was their very best. They've gotten all the crap out of the way in Season 3, and now they can focus on the good stuff in Season 4. Alicorn Twilight was never a bother to me, so eh (maybe the price of the toy though!). Actually, maybe if it hadn't been leaked I would have been gobsmacked and excited, this episode would have been my second favourite. A musical was a fantastic idea, I got the same rush as the wedding episode, however I wish it had also been two episodes, maybe a cliff hanger for the end of Season 3, and carrying on at the start of Season 4 you know? I really am in no place to complain though, for such a show as it is to produce that many heartfelt, amazing songs is to be honest, outstanding. And the animation was superb. Best part: The freaking homage to everything they've done. My god I was in tears. I mean, liquid pride. They pretty much just summed up why we all watch this show, why we all love it, and how far not only the mane six has come, but us as well on their journey. Celestia's song, while obvious fan service, was beautiful, clearly they saw us asking for it, and goddamn this time they did not disappoint. The aether they were in was fantastic. So animators and writers, my hat is off to you, may Season 4 bring greatness as expected. *obligatory bow of respect* Oh also, anyone see Derpy?
If I pretend that the final few minutes of princess coronation didn't happen, this is right up there with my favorite episodes. I liked pretty much everything in it up until the "reward" part. Spoiler: This might be a stretch, but... "I consider myself the luckiest pony in all of Equestria." Lou Gehrig is rolling in his grave. Second sentence in his retirement speech. Twilight telling us everything is going to be okay at the very end. You could tell that was forced on the writers and they tried their best to pull it off. It still seemed forced to me. I hope season 4 gives us answers.
I thought it was absolutely fantastic. Loved every song, loved the premise, absolutely loved the scene where Celestia greets Twilight. That was actually pretty damn moving. I'm surprised everyone's complaining about it being heavily musical. I thought it fit quite well, considering how rushed the actual episode was. The only two things I saw wrong with it were, 1) it was rushed, but I can look past that, and 2) if this is true, I would love to have seen some sort of cliffhanger. Yes, the wait for season 4 is going to be hard enough, but I would really have appreciated knowing that they were going to expand upon the coronation and the fact that twilight is now a freaking princess, even a "To be continued" would have been cool with me, but I don't necessarily mind it too much. They know what they're doing. But, I gotta ask. Did anyone else think the last line, "Yes, everything is going to be fine," was aimed at us Bronies? Considering all of the fuss around her transformation. It's probably just a coincidence, but a damn good one if it was. Twilight's parents were in the crowd. They didn't have a speaking role or anything, but they teared up.
Hey guys, what up, so is it really what think i- *dies from not having a big enough hand for facepalm*
I liked the episode overall, but found it kind of repetitive and a little too fast moving. But hey, what else could they do withthrity minutes? I am just glad there was no To Be Continued. Haha. So that's that until September hmm? At first I wasn't too fond of the Twilight Alicorn thing, but once I saw that Equestria Girls thing the alicorn thing was fine with me!
I've seen other boards where someone else had the same thought as me. With all their pop culture references, the writers knew what they were doing. Twilight Sparkle has ALS. Or as it's now known in Equestria, Twilight Sparkle's Disease.

Only they can use elements of harmony. And there is still Sombra, Crysalis, there is Discord whose redemption I didn't quite buy, who knows what else...
yeah, too rushed, but especially would like to hear why did she actually become a princess. Alicorn maybe...does that automatically mean a princess? Why? I have seen a baby alicorn before. Why is one spell enough to make her a princess, but three times saving ponywille arent? What will be her domain? Is she of royal blood too?
Overall pretty good episode. I almost wept liquid pride and celestias song and the a true true friend songs were my favourite. Now excuse me while I wait for the inevitable remixes and mandopony cover.
Yay Derpy! And I'm up for season 4 as long as Hasbro doesn't stick its nose too much in the production process like they did with today's episode.
I agree with you. I didn't like this episode. Half this song was singing, which I usually love the songs, but it started to become Disney-ish to me. The pacing was off and felt rushed. I liked it up until Twilight became an alicorn. My issue wasn't the alicorn thing, but why is it necessary for her to become one and why is another princess needed at all? We could speculate that another villain is coming and that's why Discord needed to be reformed and Twilight needed to become an Alicorn, but until that happens it doesn't make much sense. A short explanation would have been nice besides 'you've learns so much and wrote your own magic'. I know the shows supposed to be for kids, but when I was a kid, I would have asked the same questions. This episode seemed like it should have been a two part episode.
Really great episode full of great moments and many great songs plus i'm glad that both Vinyl and Derpy were in the episode.
I just watched the episode, and i can honestly say i'll no longer be a brony as of today. :I Aside from the rushed story, the two dozen pointless songs, and the "wtf is going on here" setting for the episode, and even beyond alicorn Twilight... THIS is what killed it off for me: The spitting image of Celestia, she is!
This definitely should have been a 2 parter, but I still enjoyed it. The whole time watching it I was getting a feeling of ending and renewal at the same time. They used the same animation with Twilight's parents as they did for Shining Armor's wedding. Just something I pointlessly noticed. There were so many songs in this episode, but at least they were all good....in my opinion. Can't wait to rewatch in 1080p.
