I definitely get the "She won't have a normal day in Ponyville," issue, but that's one of the things I like best about the whole alicorn thing. Even the song she sang at the beginnning, about how perfectly pleasant life in Ponyville was, seemed to be foreshadowing. I believe that because Twilight is a princess and an alicorn, and because she's discovered the ability to create magic, their adventures can span different lands and regions and they can face different villains and the scope of the entire show could expand beyond what we're comfortable with, into unknown realms. But, of course, as many have said, the issue may not be the fact that she became a princess, but why and what they will do with it. They've got so many possibilities I just hope they don't wuss out and dumb down her role as a leader and as a powerful unicorn. Only time will tell, but the Season 4 premier will likely answer a lot of questions. That is awesome :3
The episode was great (although a little tongue-in-cheek at times), but... now what? Twilight's an alicorn now - pretty much meaning she's not Celestia's apprentice anymore. The entire plot of the show would need to change in order for it to move on to a fourth season.
I really liked this episode, to be honest. Kinda felt like a musical, and I liked the whole "true selves being changed" thingy (was hoping for an episode like this, actually ). Also, yay! Derpy is back, and Vinyl (and Pinkanema) were there too. Although, it felt rushed/forced, but I blame Hasbro for sticking their nose in. I'm okay with the whole Twilight as an Alicorn thing, so...yeah. Though, no Discord at the coronation? Edit: I also heard that this episode is part of a "trilogy", with the 2 first episodes of Season 4 continuing it. Can anypony confirm?
The first time I watched the episode I was not too thrilled about it. Then coming to Everypony.com, I watched it again. The community here doesn't seem too negatively affected by the episode, if at all. It wasn't all that bad the second time around, the story line was rushed I agree. I look forward to a season 4 with Twilight having wings and being a princess of something. Twenty-six episodes next season, I wonder? I thought Derpy would not show up any more but she did this season, kinda. :derpe: (only briefly) Aside from that, DJ-Pon3/Vinyl Scratch and probably a ton of other popular background ponies I can't name at the moment, at least showed in this specific episode. The way they Incorporated Starswirl The Bearded was interesting none the less too. The music fit, but some could argue. The episode was different from the rest but that's okay.
*sigh* September is gonna take forever to get here... I liked what I just watched, the music once again amazed me and yeah I do also think a two parter would've done this better. Anyway I also enjoyed the little cameos made by Vinyl, and Derpy, ^^ and of course I searched for and found Lyra , my favorite being her hopping up and down in the crowd towards the end. I suppose I'll take Princess Twilight's word for it. "Everything's gonna be just fine."
It's not so much that it was a musical, but rather that there were 6 songs crammed into 22 minutes, and many of those songs were mediocre at best (personal opinion).
Yeah, it's not bad enough they crammed material of a 3-parter into one episode, they had to spend half of it singing pointless songs...
Re: [Spoilers] Season 3 Episode 13: The Princess Coronation Raise this Barn was mediocre. These songs were good and fit the feel and pace of the show well. The songs made this episode. Sent from my EVO 4G Shift using Tapatalk 2
Raise This Barn was godawful. I found most of the songs in today's episode to be mediocre. To me, the songs largely took away from the episode. There's still going to be two more parts. *points to Poetic's post*
I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about. Twilight's eventual destiny has been clear since episode two. That's why her Element of Harmony was a tiara.
I wouldn't say "clear," since it was a pretty sudden decision made by Hasbro recently that the writers never intended to do.
HAsbro makes me hate it so much sometimes when it makes the show do certain things, but oh well, at least the writers made what many thought was a certain disaster into a good episode and an interesting development
Very true. It could have been much worse, and I'm thankful that the writers managed to make it not a disaster, what with the cards they had to work with.
They may not have intended to do it so quickly, and certainly not in such a half-hearted manner, but the simple fact that Twilight Sparkle's element was a tiara leads me to believe that becoming an alicorn was always her eventual destiny.
I can't find the comment when someone said, they called her princess Twilight Comet. Nope. It is one of the older versions of english, they said she is coming. Princess Twilight cometh.
