I don't have any links or references but I think I read somewhere that Vinyl gets to be in a song... or something like that.

Actually Octavia already has an official name, at least by Hasbro's merchandising. Octavia Melody is the official name given to the Cello playing pony. As for Vinyl, I'm pretty sure that Vinyl is a fan given name but DJ Pon-3 is a legitimate stage name. What that means is that it's mentioned on some merchandise, I forget, that that is simply a stage name though her real name is yet to be known. If Vinyl does indeed get to be in an episode/song (I'm pulling for her own episode) then it's more than likely going to be her who's name gets revealed. While I am uncertain, I would have to assume Vinyl is the most likely candidate since 'Ditzy' already made her debut.
Oh nice it is going to be really interesting to see some backstory on Pinkie Pie something I wish they would have done a while back. Hopefully there is going to be a lot of things in store this season. I am already enjoying the first three episodes thus far!
