Neighsay is about to make his decisive move...

    ...and so is Cozy Glow...

...can the Mane Six save the School of Friendship, and all of Equestria?

And what role will Lord Tirek play in all of this?

With few minutes ends the S8 finale after a year full of leaks, early releases and S9 and G5 panic.

    Dear Princess Celestia,
What was Cozy Glow's end game? Let's say she got rid of magic. You, Luna, and Neighsay show up with guards and imprison her anyway. I don't see a way for her to "win" even if she succeeded.
Tirek wanting magic to go away doesn't make sense either. If it's all gone, he has nothing to consume. What was his end game?
Tartarus actually seems horrible. What did those magical beasts do to deserve the same punishment as Tirek? And who takes care of and feeds them? Do they ever get out of their cages at all? Who cleans?
Today I learned that Equestria's prison system needs to be reformed.

    Faithfully yours,
    Dragonbait

Furthermore, why go to all the trouble of getting the Crusaders accepted in the School of Friendship if she was just gonna shove them in a broom closet instead of actually using them in her plan?

And what was the point of making sure the Flim Flam Brothers create Friendship University if said University didn't factor in her plans (in fact, had Flim and Flam been successful, it would have been a hindrance to her plans).

Also, considering Season 9 is confirmed, I'm pretty sure the "Generation 5" leak is true and not just "panic".

I have yet to see any concrete evidence of season 9 being the last. A whole lot of speculation and a cryptic tweet that was later clarified by a the DHX staff member who posted it is all I've seen. Nothing is confirmed past season 9 but each previous season was also only confirmed about halfway through the one before it. I'll believe it when I read something official from either Hasbro or (more likely) DHX.

    Anygoo...

To the surprise of absolutely NO ONE, Cozy Glow was behind it allllllll alooooooong!!!! The only thing that really surprised me was the fact that she wasn't Chrysalis in disguise. I thought for sure that was the case but I guess she's just a wicked little pony. And remember all of Neighsay's gas about other creatures using friendship as a weapon? IRONY!!! Glad to see him change his way of thinking.

Tidbits: Pinkie is annoying. We know this. Glad to see it come in handy... for once. :p

    Overall: 8/10

Cozy Glow creeps me out now. She's basically Darla Dimple with much higher career aspirations.

I haven't slept all night, so forgive me if I'm not lucid enough to argue this properly, but...

1-So far, everything else from the leak came true.

2-Thematically, it makes sense for 2019 to be the final year of MLP, since it's the final year of the "Avengers Era" of the MCU, the final year of "Gotham", and the first year of the Hasbro Era of "Power Rangers". So, 2019 is the "closing the book" year, so to speak.

3-The show has been going on for eight years now. It's about time to end, lest it suffers the fate of shows like "Pokemon", "Phineas and Ferb", "The Fairly Oddparents" and "Spongebob Squarepants", and overstays its welcome.

4-Hasbro isn't making money off the franchise anymore (keep in mind that they are also ending Bayformers with "Bumblebee"), so Hasbro right now is looking to broadens its horizons. That's why they have plans for a new "G.I. Joe" movie and a "Micronauts" movie, why they greenlit "Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters", and why they bought the aforementioned Power Rangers.

Generation 5 of MLP makes sense considering what Hasbro is doing right now.

5-Season 8 is the "passing of the torch" season. In my experience, this means the show is ending or about to end. Case in point, "Power Rangers" (passed the torch in "Turbo", which led to what they planned was the final series with "In Space"), "The Tick" (passed the torch in its final episode, "The Tick VS Education"), "Dragon Ball GT" (passed the torch in the final episode), "Extreme Ghostbusters" (the final Ghostbusters-related ANYTHING until the 2016 movie came along) , "Star Trek Generations" (the swan song for the Original Series Era, at least until "Enterprise" came along).

Not saying season 9 won't be the end. All I'm saying is that I haven't read anything official yet. If you have any credible links, I'd be glad to look at them because everything I've seen so far doesn't reveal anymore than the "possibility" of it ending after 9.

Also, I'm a skeptical person by nature so my apologies if I come off as a little pushy. ^///^

It's OK. For the record, I'm well-rested now.

True, nothing is official, but if it looks like a cat, walks like a cat, and meows like a cat...

...however, indeed nothing is official, so you are justified in your skepticism.

The reason I can relate to said skepticism is that I'm just as skeptical about the "not everyone is coming back to life" rumors from "Avengers 4". I can see the non-snap deaths (Loki, Gamora, Vision and Heimdall) being permanent, but when it comes to the snap, unless there's official sources stating otherwise, everyone is coming back to life.

This includes all the people going "the Guardians are gonna stay dead because of the firing", since the firing took place AFTER "Avengers 4" was filmed (but again, Gamora may stay dead).

The entire justice system in Equestria needs reform. Punishments are based on the whims of the ruling class.
A child has been locked away in the most secure prison in the land.
A pony that almost destroyed reality never spent a day in prison.
    Justify this. Change my mind.

    Beg your pardon? >^_^<

Not trying to justify it or change anyone's minds here, just want to toss out my two cents:

Way I figure it, if you not only try to wipe out the country for your own selfish desires, commit high treason, and sentence a group of genuine heroes to life imprisonment just because they were in your way, but take utter delight in doing so and show no real sign that you're apologetic for your actions, you can kiss any chance of parole good-bye regardless of your age. I'm pretty sure that if this weren't a children's cartoon, they would've just skipped the "life imprisonment" step and moved on to the point of no return.

In the end, Starlight was no monster. She could've just let the timeline rot for the sake of her revenge against the Six, and to Michigan with the consequences, but instead she was genuinely apologetic for her actions and showed a desire to make amends. Darla Di---I mean, Cozy Glow did not; she's an Enfante Terrible by the very definition of the term. All in all, it seems straightforward to me.

With that said, I'm taking my leave for now: this has a high risk of transforming into an argument, and I want no part of it. Ciao mein, everyone.

Based on the show's track record, if you show remorse for your evil actions and change your ways, you get to become a tertiary or even a secondary character. As for little Diabeetus DeVil, I'd say her head's screwed up six ways to Sunday. Although, I've not lost hope that she's Chrysalis in disguise and this was her plan all along in order to infiltrate Tartarus.

Saying, "Lol, sorry," shouldn't hold up in court. Wait none of them got trials anyways. Arbitrary punishments are arbitrary. Equestria actually sounds like a horribly scary place to live...

I didn't want to say anything due to the topic causing me to get caught in a flame war in derpibooru...

...but yeah, the ending rubs me off the wrong way.

We are sending a child to what amounts on, depending how you look at it, either the Pony version of Hell or the Pony version of Arkham Asylum.

The whole "I'll banish you to the Moon for this!" thing was funny because, until now, we knew for sure Celestia would never actually do this to anyone (much less a child). And now she goes and does it, only it's Tartarus instead of the Moon.

What happened to the whole "every villain can be redeemed" belief system that the main characters have? Why didn't they offer Cozy a chance for redemption?

And when push comes to shove, why not just summon the Rainbow of Harmony to purify the evil inside Cozy?
