It doesn't matter if you know them or not guys! Seriously! It's about passing on cheer, and making someone's day whether or not you know them, or even like them. Christmas is about giving, regardless of the person or pony who receives. If you don't know the person, then maybe this is the perfect chance to meet a new pony around here! It never hurts to have more friends. And it never hurts to go out and try, especially around here. So what if they never post? So what if he/she dislikes you, or you dislike them? So WHAT if you can't make a personal spin on the gift? Get creative! Make it happy! BE HAPPY! MAKE OTHER PEOPLE HAPPY! Live and love, give, you just might save a life, for all you know.
What I'm worried about is this- If they never post, this might reflect that they're never online. And if they're never online, is it likely they'll even be here around Christmas to receive their present? I guess that might just be me though. :S
Nah, there are some people who never post but lurk around on the forums while hidden or online. We've narrowed down those who haven't been on for a while from those who entered, so I think we'll have minimal dropouts.
I'd rather not waste my time and effort drawing something for someone I literally have never seen post.
Problem is, I don't even know what their OC or anything looks like, so I can't exactly make them a drawing. Second thing is I don't even know if they'll receive it if they never post, and if they don't participate on the forums, this is a bit unfair if they do it just for the gift. Otherwise I do agree with this post.
I had to do the same for Fluttershy last year. (And it wasn't really a waste of time.) If you don't like it, don't participate, and void your chance to join next year. That's just the bottom line. Just means I (Or the other volunteers) have to give more gifts at the end of all this, which I'm fine with.
I'm sure this event will be a success, it's nice to give/receive. If you don't know the person too well, give a "neutral gift" like a derpy/popular character picture or a pack of pony cards. Maybe people can post in this thread what present they'd like to receive or fav character. I know I haven't been too active, but I will be sure to give my present. My fav characters are Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Discord. I'm cool with almost any character though. Any gift is fine.
You could also ask around to see if someone knows the person you have. Friends lists can be wonderful things (if any friends are listed). Or maybe in their intro thread or a blog they mention someone bringing them on to the site? You could then ask that person about who you're sending a gift to.
