That's a shame. Dumb fabric... uh... I mean postal service. What? You didn't request overnight shipping? :p I think the ideas you have are just fine. I especially like the idea of showing the picture of the shirt. "You all better praise Fluttershy!" (By the way, don't say that). No matter what happens, I respect the fact that you're going up there and revealing your bronydom in the first place. I believe it takes some serious guts to do that. On your YouTube video you'll probably get the usual comments like, "And they say his balls grew two sizes that day" or "I can't see you because of how big your balls are" or some other testicularesque (is that even a word? haha) comment. I think at this point those types of comments are almost obligatory. I look forward to any stories you may have. Hopefully they're positive ones. I actually hope you don't have any conflicts. I'd rather read a story about how everyone accepted you for it. In movies and fiction, conflict is more interesting, but I don't wish for that to happen to you. Best of luck to you, and I think you'll do fine, but remember, either way, I can definitely respect what you're doing. You are a greater man than I.

Yay! It arrived on time! I take back what I said about the postal service, you rock! Woo hoo! That shirt is awesome. I liked your Fluttershy impression, haha. Too bad YouTube seems to hate your videos (glitches), but I noticed you said you're going to reupload it. Well, it seems everything is coming into place for your presentation.

sigh I should probably check my video before I distribute them. I just did not expect youtube to screw up even an unedited video.

There is another 20 seconds where I pose in front of the camera wearing the shirt, but you know, youtube sucks, at least for me. I will keep uploading this same damn video until they get it right and post it when they do.

Anyway, message delivered, the shirt has arrived. Yay.

Thank you everypony I have taken your feedback seriously and I have modified my script based on a lot of what you have said and even some things I have come across on my own since my Rehearsal video.

So I have rewritten the scrip for my presentation an I wanted to pass it by you all again.

Changes in version 2.0 (lol, it's like patch notes)

    -Included definition of Meme
-Included Twilight clip from Fall Weather Friends
    -Included clip from Colbert report
-Included brony shoutout in Equestria girls clip.
-Included short rant on pink & blue stereotypes being opposite in the past and some countries today.
-Included a discussion and chart about the popularity of the first episode.
-Included comparing the show to many other kids cartoons popular with an adult audience.
-Included partial screening of the amazing Night of Pony PMV
-Included comparison of show's music to Disney musicals.
-Changed both of AppleJacks and Rarity's descriptions, to be more positive and less me pointing out Rarity is girly.
-Included mention that Rainbow Dash is a Tomboy.
-Removed all but one reference to the show being manly.
    -Overall spelling and grammar check

There may be other changes I don't remember. If I didn't make changes from your suggestions it's due to my own decision that it would not be beneficial to the performance.

So here is the whole script as is stands so far, please read and give me any more suggestions you may have. The speech will happen at exactly 9:00am GMT +8. So it is very close. Let's create some new bronies here people.

I wanted to make a pitch to you all to make a documentary about an online meme (A meme is basically a virus that spreads throughout the population, except instead of a disease it is an idea or piece of intellectual property, the ideas of Planking would be one such example.) (show picture of planking), that has spread like wild fire in the last 8 months. The reason I want make this documentary is that this show and especially the people who watch it are discriminated against and made into villains by the media, through lies exaggeration and generalisation.

For one primary reason and that reason is. It's title.

This makes me mad, in fact it make me so mad! I.... Well i'll just let Fluttershy tell you how mad it makes me. (Fluttershy scream clip)

That title is 'My Little Pony Friendship is magic'.

It is a show created by Lauren Faust. Who is well known for her work on other successful shows such as Powerpuff Girls and Foster's home for imaginary friends. Many of which developed are large following of adult fans many who were male.

The show My Little Pony Fim (Which I will call it for short from now on, to distinguish it from the cartoon from the 80's, which is really childish) has also gotten a huge following of adult male fans and they are serious enough about their love for the show that they call themselves bronies.

Why would adult men want to watch a girls cartoon?

It is a common misconception that My Little Pony FiM was designed and marketed as a show for just girls between the age of 5 and 12. What Lauren Faust designed the show to be was one that wouldn't leave the parents of these girls uncomfortable to sit and watch it with them. Whether they were mothers or fathers.

To her surprise though she did such a good job at this that when a few guys on a popular message board 4chan (famous for being a very hateful and troll filled place) did a review on it in order to mock the show, they ended up liking it and recommending everyone else on the board to watch it.

It then spread out in popularity from the boards to the rest of the interwebs.

Lauren Faust was asked about her reaction to this in a phone interview and was quoted as saying.

“This might be a little short-sighted on my part, but I just assumed that any adult man who didn’t have a little girl wouldn’t even give it a try, The fact that they did and that they were open-minded and cool enough and secure in their masculinity enough to embrace it and love it and go online and talk about how much they love it — I’m kind of proud.”

This is far from the first time something that ended up becoming popular outside of it's intended audience. Spongebob Squarepants, Harry Potter and Pokemon are such examples

To show just how popular this ahow is here are the top, most page viewed memes on KnowYourMeme.com.

Not just is it the most viewed meme but this chart shows that it is also the most contributed to with fan work. This includes art work, captioned screenshots, comics, videos, fanfiction and all kinds of other things. Here is a chart of the statistics of the top 10 memes as of July 29, 2011. It's popularity grew so that it rocketed from 10th place on the 5th of May to first place on the 25th of June.

This is the insight on the first episode of My Little Pony friendship is magic. It has nearly 2 million views and this is only since the last time this was taken down due to copyright, there are dozens of other uploads of this episode, with between 50'000 to 200'000 views. (Picture of Yotutube stats)
    View attachment 962

Even the show Colbert Report gave a shout out to bronies. (Colbert report clip)

Then the creators of the show themselves produced a commercial that actually gave a shoutout to their brony fans (Equestria girls clip)

There are several reasons that My Little Pony FiM has become so popular.

    1. It isn't overly childish, it's less childish, then the pokemon cartoon.
    2. It's Awesome
    3. 3 Dimensional Characters and character development
    4. It's writing is creative
    5. It's got heaps of comedy that can make people of any age laugh
    6. It's animation is fantastic
    7. The Music is great
    8. It has a fascinating setting with Mythological creatures and Magic
    9. The voice acting is great and they don't sound like they are speaking to children
    10. The references to girly themes are a lot less then you would expect.

So despite this shows reputation it is less childish then most cartoons and people who would watch Spongebob Squarepants, Ren & Stimpy and Rocco's Modern Life for the lolz, would also like this show just as much, maybe even more.

In fact I recently tried to watch the X-Men cartoon from my childhood for nostalgia and the dialogue treated their audience like they were so stupid I couldn't watch anymore then 2 episodes.

Also I have watched a lot of M rated anime and even they treat their audience like they are under 8 years old a lot of the time. Not to mention the voice acting is atrocious.

I have watched all 26 episodes of this show and I will tell you why I think it is awesome. I would say it's best quality is it interesting, likeable, and 3 dimensional characters.

First we have Twilight Sparkle, (Poster of Twilight) No she does not actually sparkle when she is in the day light. She is a unicorn pony, which means she can use magic. She is also a prodigy magic student and can be very powerful. She starts out being a social recluse and she is a bookworm and nerd. A good comparison for her character would be Harry Potter.

Then we have Rainbow Dash, she is a pegasus pony which means she can fly and is the fastest pony in Ponyville, maybe even all of Equestria. Because she's such an awesome flyer she has a very cocky attitude and likes to show and often remind the ponies they aren't as awesome as her. (clip of especially when I'm around to be better then the rest of us) She is the only pony to ever pull off a Sonic Rainboom. (clip of Rainboom). I would say Chuck Norris has a good resemblance to Rainbow Dash as Rainbow Dash is the Tomboy of the group.

AppleJack is the third and last type of pony. She's an earth pony which means she doesn't have wings or Magic, but this does not take away from her significance as a character. She's a typical hard working farm pony with a southern accent. She is very selfless and like to help everypony, but is stubborn to accept help from anypony else.

Rarity is pretty much the complete opposite to AppleJack, She's into fashion and hates doing anything that will get her hooves dirty. She has a snobbish high society accent. But despite being very picky about the way she looks, this gives her a lot more sensitivty about others and makes her very generous. She is also the pony that creative people would relate to since she is in the design career.

There is funny scene between the two of them, that captures their personalities well.

Next we have PinkiePie, another Earth pony she likes to have fun and party and laughs and breaks into song in the face of danger. She is also able to break the forth wall and the laws of physics. This cartoon even with it's magic is realistic in what the ponies can do. As you will she in this scene.

Last but not least is Fluttershy. A pegasus pony. She is shy and easily scared, has trouble speaking loudly and love animal, who she can communicate with and get animals to do what she wants. She also makes a terrible cheerleader.

I would say she reminds my most of this guy (picture of self) uhhhh. I forgot what his name was.

Another thing I like about this show is it's music. It is just about disney musical quality, which is incredible considering this is just a TV Show. There have been other songs from kids show that have become popular.(Bob the Builder)

Many critics of this show and it's male fandom also say it's too pink and pastel colored to posibly be for guys. But I will remind you of what one of our lecturers said that the pink and blue stereotypes used to be the other way around as recent as the 1920s. It is our society that decided to stereotype it that way. Because Pink which is close to Red was the agressive color and Blue was the calm and dainty colour. In fact even today in some countries such as Belgium, Pink is still considered the boy's colour.

anyone who watches this show becomes 20% cooler and manlier as a result.

That is why, I am a Brony. (take of jumper to reveal Fluttershy shirt) and I am proud of it.

    Any Questions?

The script could still be changed further if you have a great idea.

I think it's great. Nice improvement. I notice you used one of my suggestions as well. I'm pleased at what I see. Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to assist you. I'll be eagerly waiting to learn of your classmates' responses. I wish you all the best.

uh oh! sore throat, coughing, mucus. I think I have a cold or flu. DAMMIT! DAMMIT! DAMMIT! Why now? Trollestia. Are you testing me?
I am going to have to be particularly well prepared to compensate for this inconvenience. I just hope my voice doesn't start sounding like a chipmunk by the time I do my speech. This is such bad timing to get sick.

Okay Trollestia! fine I will take on this challenge I will put on an awesome performance no matter how horrible I feel on the day. IT IS ON!

Only thing I can say for sure is to take out the cracks at other cartoons. That seems to be the only thing negative about it.

Okay everypony I am about to go to the library and make and print out my palm cards for this. This is going to happen in less then 24 hours. I am so excited. I just hope I can sleep before it, I tend to suffer insomnia whenever I have something important the next day. I also hope this cold I have doesn't cause my voice to change.

Maybe it'll make your voice deeper and you'll sound like Flutterguy. :p

That's what normally happens to me when I have a cold. My voice sounds manlier than normal. I'm not implying your voice doesn't normally sound man— Yeah, I'm not even going to go there. This conversation would just be awkward for both of us.

Well I did it I presented MLP in front of my class and recorded it. So I'll be editing it and uploading it tonight.

It did not go as well as I hope. The stage freight took hold of me something fierce. I don't understand why. I did not expect my body and mind to protest what I was doing. Anyway I got through it and presentation wasn't terrible, it was just very all over the place and I had extended pauses fairly often. I ended up doing a lot of on the cuff stuff, since it was hard to read the palm cards with my hand shaking and I had difficulty making eye contact with the audience.

The other problem was the audience they were very boring, they hardly reacted to anything I said or did and did not laugh at the clips from the show at all. They did laugh at the shirt reveal and gave me a round of applause at the end.

Well the good thing about that is that they were the same afterward, they didn't care at all that I like ponies and didn't treat me any differently. They didn't even mind me going in public with them wearing the Fluttershy shirt to have lunch.

Anyway I am relieved that it is done with and can finally stop hiding my bronydom. I am now going 100% public with it and it is liberating.

There is a lot of dead air that will probably be boring for a Youtube audience so I think I'm going to edit all the pauses and me fumbling stuff out. So yeah It's no Physics guy performance, but should hopefully be fairly entertaining, if you like public speeches about MLP. I have watched many and I don't think I did any better then most of them. Oh Well. Maybe I'm being too self critical maybe you guys will like it.

Many kudus for you. Even if it didn't go as well as hoped, it's still awesome you did it. I look forward to watching your presentation. Maybe you're indeed a bit too self-critical.

That's alright, Setzer. So what if it's not perfect. The important thing is that you did it. As I said earlier, no matter what happens, I respect what you're doing. It takes some courage to do that. Besides, from your post, the end result wasn't so bad, was it? The laughs (hopefully with you, not at you), applause at the end, the fact they treated you the same afterward and didn't mind hanging around with you with the Fluttershy shirt on. I'd say that's a positive outcome. On top of all that, you feel as if a weight has been lifted. You should be proud of yourself. For what it's worth, I'm proud of you, and I didn't even see the video yet.

Speaking of which, I do like public speeches about MLP. So I'll be eager to watch it once it's uploaded.
