Well making your own cutie mark COULD work, but only as perhaps a second avatar (in the sense that you make and upload your own) having a WYSIWYG editor on the forum isn't going to happen I'm afraid ^^ The problem with custom pics/avs etc is that people can just 'right-click' copy and ... pasta's for tea. Genders sounds like a good idea, you mean to display in the post bit or right?

Nah, rep in general is just for fun normally. Of course you often get it for being useful, but on other websites based heavily on modding resources I've seen people run further in rep on lulz then on being legitimately useful. It's all just for fun really, though it is a nice way to thank someone for helping. As odd as it may seem, I'm not sure there's many "youngins" out there that'd join a forum for this sort of thing haha Idk but I'd be willing to say Jaret's probably the youngest member on the site atm, so I don't think anyone will have a problem if you post a dub that includes profanity or lewd references, of course like anything pr0n is never allowed but you get the point. I'm not familiar with the layout of LBPC, but when we say chat we mean like a chat room (real time conversation, VMs and PMs are already included in the site). Idk about that one, you have to find a nice ballence between status and fun when it comes to that sort of thing, buying and selling things may come off as sort of pointless - and of course, actual monetary gain is out of the question for this sort of thing - can't have people buying status or that sort of thing, removes the fun out of these sorts of systems. -Some way to differentiate male and female users on the site may actually be a good idea (if the user would like to provide this sort of information of course) Something tells me it's especially going to be difficult to determine via name and avatar someone's gender (for accuracy of language) on this site, people who don't know me from other sites may already think I'm female due to going by the name of a female pony from the show. -As for race/breed/whatever you want to call it, I don't see why not. Heck, you could probably integrate a "brony maker" thing into the site if you wanted to (I know I've seen one somewhere else before) that went off your specifications, it's more or less just for fun. Probably for the best really, on another site I go on frequently that has a non-commercial, non-custom chat system names aren't build into it so you can change them all you want - we abuse it like crazy. Oh there are several (free and cheap) ones that are Vbulletin Native*, it probably isn't even to much hassle to convert ones either, there are other reasons there not so great. Use Vbulletin accounts/usernames for login. <3 the Bronie pic, speaking of which just edited the code, go to your profile and pick a species/gender at your leisure :3 I might make it a little icon as opposed to text (wings for pegs etc) if Jaret is feeling artistic enough.
If you could find some way to fit that into the interface with the actual cutey mark showing up on it, that'd unify the whole idea
Hmm? Making a separate field for cutie marks might be doable but the cutie linked to the gender wouldn't for obvious reasons (I presume you meant the first). The forum isn't really aimed at any age inparticular although research shows the show's Internet fan base is largely older bronies, any pony fan is welcome - hence the reason to keep mature content to a minimum. Although I like the idea for a 'mature' section and know you don't mean anything 'really' bad the problem is most younger kids interprate 'mature', 'adult' and 'restricted' as 'Teehee I'm cool if I post there'. I might throw a system together that actually checks the account age when said forum has an access attempt, though not fool proof it's not our fault if someone fakes their age. EDIT: I'll try and look at both tomorrow - As for cutie Mark size not too big, I don't want it to stretch the postbit or eat up webspace (seeing as the avatars are already allowed to be pretty large).
Making age a factor for posting is kinda pointless really It'll just encourage people to spam in that forum and faking your age

AND WOLAH! Probably (well definitely) more hassle than it's worth but a 'beta' cutie mark system is done. I say beta because I want to see if people use it properly* and I plan to try and improve it, at the moment you have to personally enter an external URL (you can't upload to the site server like avatars). I say they should be free to edit (By the members from their own portfolios). That way everypony doesn't have the same marks. Just curious, but what kind of stuff CAN'T you (the programmer) program onto the site? Let's say we wanted Derpy to pop up when you scrolled over something. Oh, just in case you don't know where to edit it atm Go to your profile and go to "about me" and click the pencil there to set one (first place I would think to look would be under settings so I'm figuring some people may have trouble finding it atm)
They are 100% custom, infact there are no 'default' ones And yes, sorry it's edited here. What can't I do? Hmm. Well to be honest I'm actually no web coder I just have a knack for being strangely resourceful I can usually understand enough code to do anything either through editing or copy and paste from various templates. So realistically with enough time I can do most standard things - but making derpy pop up would probably be a bit over the top... It'd probably be easy enough to do with java or flash but not really worth the hassle - I mean it doesn't really have any physical benefit, it'd be funny for a day or two perhaps, nothing more.
Well he just said (well in the small p.s. text at the bottom, I just read the full post) have Derpy hidden in the background, not someplace obvious - it's pretty obvious the theme's not actually made for this anyway so maybe that's an idea when we get an actual custom theme for the site. Yeah, it is a bit big atm. I was thinking more like an icon or something when I originally proposed the idea, but this is alpha/beta anyway. Is it going to eventually going to be mixed with the reputation/classification (jaret's idea based on where you post, etc.) style system for the site?

I quite like the idea of it's 'your' mark it represents 'you' - so you should have some choice in the matter - if people abuse it (i.e. use ridiculous images) then yes I'll have take it down or set up restrictions. Cut the size to 50x50 - yeah it looks a lot better now. EDIT: Oops, lol no that's me being lazy/forgetful - fixing XD EDIT2: Oh RIIIIIGHT - You want her in the banner?
