June 4th, 1944 The invasion came, and after nearly losing Omaha beach due to stiff resistance, the Allies achieved a beachhead. Slowly fighting through the bocage, the intel provided by the Snakes proved quite useful as the German anti-landing craft spikes were swiftly changed into plows on tanks, allowing the Allied armor to blast right through the bocage. Within 2 months, the entire German force within Normandy had beem surrounded and destroyed. Patton's 3rd Army lead the charge with a swift, narrow front to the south, while Montgomery lead the British forces on a wide front. It wouldn't be until the Allies reached the Rhineland were they finally stopped by a mixture of stretched supply lines and recovered German resistance, which had picked up immensely due to the "Call of the Fatherland" and a want to fight on the Rhineland with all they had than in Germany itself. In Italy, the Americans had pushed the Germans north of the Po River at long last, and in a small invasion, liberated Vinchy France. After these two months of sucesses, the Russians decided to try something similar, and in what would be remembered as the offensive version of Dunkirk, they landed at Marupol, on the southern tip of Crimea, and a small beach west of Crimea. By October and the onset of winter, Crimea and the southern half of the Ukraine had been taken, but it was essentially an occupation against a people who wanted Russia to stay out.
(I see what you did there, at the end of the post ) The Coyotes received orders that their job was not over yet. Their newest objectives was to aid the Allied forces as they push into Germany, while the Resistance rebuilt itself in the meantime. The Coyotes would now work inside of Germany to help clear the path for the allies through any means necessary to ensure the war hopefully ended soon. Of course, they couldn't get sloppy in their tactics because the 'war' ended in France.
(Honestly was an accidental thing) The Snakes sat in what was essentially a fancy jail cell, they had technically free leave and could contact Command at anytime, but they didn't want to risk it. In the meantime, they sat deep inside Germany, unwittingly just a dozen miles from a Nazi concentration camp, one that was a "work before death" camp, where prisoners were worked until near death over 6 months before being shipped off to Awsuitiz. They could occasionally hear the roar of jet engines above as the new J-1 fighters took absolute control of the German skies as between fuel shortages and the sheer overwhelming number of J-1s. "What are we going to do..." Gordin asked quietly "Simple, we kill Hitler when he asks, and then get the hell out." Ryan replied
The Coyotes returned back into Germany once again to conduct raids, except that these raids would focus on supply lines instead of their traditional assassinations. Once inside of Germany itself, they were given free control over their actions as long as they ultimately benefited the allied war-effort. They made their way into Baden, right next to the French and Swiss border where they would be conducting raids in the alps for a while before ultimately moving upwards towards Berlin while stopping at other towns and provinces along the way.
(Crap, sorry, can't think of anything... - - Auto Merge - - Little to the knowledge of the Snake's, Operation Valkyrie had just occurred. Hitler, through sheer luck, survived the blast that destroyed much of the room ans killed 5 senior Nazis and injured 7 more. But Hitler was driven even deeper into madness, a process started when he lost his right hand due to infection from that sniper's bullet. Retresting from the Wolf's lair to his private bunker in Berlin, Hitler made a raving speech about how "Germany was going as mad as it did that lead to the embarrassment of the Treaty of Versailles" and that all parties with any kind of hand in the Operaion when promised swift and severe punishment. But Snake Squad remained oblivious to this, right up until the Gestapo busted down the door to the hq they were being held in. They quickly put their heads together and blocked up the door with everything in the room and swiftly began tying together bedsheets in a braided rope so they could escape out the window. Outside the room, they could hear yelling, before the SS officer that had been looking to overthrow Hitler managed to collect his troops and put up a stiff defenses against the Gestapo raid as gunshots began being heard. Finally, one by one, Snake Squad slipped out of their room, taking their "rope" with them to hide their escape. Ryan covered the retreat as they fled into the forest, looking back just in time to see the Gestapo run out of the building, which then erupted into a fireball. Dumbfounded, he looked around for an answer before he saw the answer, 4 Tiger tanks had surrounded the building and where simply leveling it. Turning and running, Ryan knew Germany still had fight left in it.
The Coyotes were in the German town of Trier, some distance into Germany itself. The entire city was heavily bombed and bombarded already by the Allies due to it's proximity to the border, but it still maintained a regional presence in the area by German troops, or what little remained in it's ruins. If the town was weakened further before an allied assault, the town could then be taken with minimal resistance and the Rhineland could have fallen within a next month and a half, alongside setting up the foundations of an Eastern assault to Baden-Württemberg while American soldiers from Italy would move into Bavaria. The Coyotes were at St. Mary's Column, at the top of the city as they scouted the ruins. Katz turned around at his men and spoke. "Alright men, we're going to weaken the German positions as much as possible until the Allied forces arrive in three days. We've been given free action onto how we can destroy any defences....or what’s left of them until then. While we could take this entire town without serious problems, the Germans are going to fight to the death because we happen to be in their turf. The brass doesn’t want to risk a large collateral count either, meaning that our job is to hopefully save some of our own lives. Understood?” The men all saluted in unison. “Sir, Yes sir!” “Let’s get this show on the road” Katz replied, taking a cigar from his pocket and lighting it up.
Meanwhile, the Allied advance had slowed to a crawl as the weather turned against them and German resistance stiffened further. Most days, they were lucky to advance a mile with heavy losses. Meanwhile, the Germans began destroying all bridges over the Rhine. While this was happening, Hitler once again solidified his control of Germany, mainly at the cost of making sure all his inner circle was yesmen. In the meantime, the Snakes stayed in hiding.
The Coyotes waited until nightfall, where they would soon move into the city and plant some explosives against some of the more complex equipment that the Germans had, ranging from machine guns to fuel to even vehicles and Anti-Air turrets. Of course, once the explosions went off and that they soon drew attention to themselves, a single Panzer, possibly the only one in the city had began to hunt them down. It was Eight heavily-armed American saboteurs vs One German tank. And it wasn't what the Coyotes had in mind when they were supposed to destroy the offensives and defensive's of the Germans
Matthew took a breath as he began the launch preparations for the J-1, it hadn't quite fully replaced the Mustang as the bombers needed a slow propeller fighter to protect them so the J-1 had been converted into an air-to-ground aircraft. It was more complex than a P-51 yes, but it was still a plane, and he understood how to fly it. He got confirmation for take off and pushed the throttle forward, quickly taking off followed by his three J-1 wingmen. They soon flew deep inside Germany within 30 minutes from their airbase in the Por-de-Calais area, making a large U-turn and flew over the town of Treir low and "slow", going way too fast for the German AA to be of concern. Then, he found a Panzer advancing on a group with three more coming at them from all directions, but would be hidden by buildings. Calling in his find, he pulled straight up with his wingmen, flying up to 5,000 feet, cut the throttle and turned the J-1 to fall back towards the ground in a slow slope. Firing two volleys of rockets, he had destroyed the front and back tanks while the three others picked off the rest with ease. Then, they quickly rocketed away, heading towards the front line at 300 mph at only 1,000 feet in the air.
While the J-1’s flew over the town and reduced the entire armoured division to almost nothing, a lone Panzer had survived the bombardment with relatively low damage as it climbed over some ruins and fired a shell at the Coyotes. With split-second action, the Coyotes avoided the shell that instead slammed into an old television store that exploded and collapsed behind them. They still had a battle to fight after all. The next five minutes was the closest that the entire group had come to death, with one Coyote almost losing his leg as a piece of wood flew past and almost took it completely off. After a fierce struggle, One Coyote managed to get close enough to throw a grenade inside of the barrel and ran for cover, eventually exploding and rendered the main offensive useless. Not long later, Jared himself managed to shot a German soldier who came out of the tank and threw a Molotov cocktail into the tank itself before jamming the hatch shut with a piece of metal, just while he could hear muffled screams of agony while the tank began to burn. Katz jumped from the tank and walked across the street, where the flames ultimately lit the fuel tank and promptly caused the tank to explode. When the battle was over, they quickly got the hell out of Treir before they were followed. The path was now clear, and now the Allies could gain some massive distance into Germany itself now.
(Just so you can be more realistic with dealing with tanks; you can't actually dodge a tank round, things are moving as fast as a bullet and you can't see the projectile. And the explosion wouldn't have come from the fuel tank, it would hve come from the ammo stockpile inside the tank. Also, destroying 4 tanks would no why in hell clear a hole in the lines of the German army, especially with the Rhine river in the way which can be up to a mile or more in length. There's a reason the Romans used it as their border river.) The Snakes began slowly creeping west towards the front lines, knowing that one false move would lead to their deaths. They decided to stop on the eastern border of the Rhineland as they didn't want to get too close to the Rhine, which would see extremely intense fighting, but they didn't want to be too far back to where an German collapse couldn't recover by.
(Sorry bout that, kinda had to write that post in a hurry without considering realism. It would had cleared a line for the defences of the town anyway.) The Coyotes remained in the mountains for a few days, avoiding patrols while heading back into the town and sabotaging any vehicle through any means necessary. (Sorry for the short post, had no idea what to write.)
(My grandad was in Vietnam in the Australian Navy while great grandfather was in WW2, who passed away around 2 years at 88. Really interesting reading about your grand-dad. Should we go with a time-skip, still can't think of anything)
On October 23rd, 2077, a Great War signalled the violent end of human civilization when nuclear weapons were launched by all of the nuclear-capable nations of the world. According to most survivors' accounts, the exchange lasted for approximately two hours. Once the last atomic bomb and nuclear warhead had fallen, the world fell into the deep darkness of a nuclear holocaust. The entire world went quietly to sleep following its aftermath. But it was not, as some had predicted, the end of the world. Instead, the apocalypse was simply the prologue to another bloody chapter of human history. For man had succeeded in destroying the world - but war, war never changes. In the early days, thousands were spared the horrors of the holocaust by taking refuge in enormous underground shelters, known as vaults. But when they emerged, they had only the hell of the wastes to greet them. In the ruins of Bakersfield, California, the former director of the CIA and a master infiltrator had rejected claims to leave with the President to the Oil Rig on the Pacific Ocean and instead settled down in Vault 12. But the inhabitants of Bakersfield were not to know that Vault 12 had an intentional design flaw - the door would never shut properly. Radiation would enter into the vault overtime and transform the entire vault populace into ghouls. When Vault 12 did open and the city of Necropolis was founded in the summer of 2083, the former director left what would become headed off into the wasteland that was New California, also known as the Core Region. Edward Cooper, already at the age of 81 when the city was founded, left in the middle of the night. A master infiltrator that fought in every armed conflict from 2020 til the end of the Great War, the Ghoul being famous in Pre-War society for his affinity for Spaghetti Westerns, his skill as a gunslinger and for using revolvers as his weapons of choice. He set off, looking for any other remnants of civilization. It is now the summer of 2127, and he has returned home.
(Well, I would say it was closer to 2045-2050 when he started fighting, as if he started at 2020, that would put him at 75 when the bombs fell, which is pretty old to be in the military) Daren White was the grandson of John White, a Army Power Armor Ranger when the bombs fell, found his grandfather's armies handed down to him when his father Carter was killed by a large group of savage raiders. He had a training that was similar to his grandfather's, only more...adapted to the irradiated area around, even though most of the most harmful radiation had already faded. Now, it was just a slow exposure of low harm radiation that ensured that every wastelander outside the Vaults had some form of mutation, even though for most it was extremely small, and sometimes even somewhat useful (better working organs, or sometimes worse). For Daren, it was slightly more noticeable in that his mutation lead to a larger than normal amount of growth hormones, so he stood at 7 foot 5 inches when he was finished growing, and extremely bulky, and yet could go twice as long without food and water as the normal person. This of course meant he had to make modifications to the power armor to make it fit, but he made it work. The increase in weight didn't really bother him anyways. Now, he roamed the wastes, lost without direction or knowing what to do, cutting down any who tried to raise their weapons against him with his trusty, heavily modified gatling laser and power fist.
(He was 18 when he entered the military but he retired from active combat in his 60s because of the toll on his then human body and went into an officer position until he became the head of the CIA. He didn't really become seriously involved until around 2045-ish) Edward Cooper appeared just like any other ghoul, if that ghoul wasn't already in an extreme physical condition. Edward stood at around 6ft tall and only weighted 165 pounds, but it didn't mean that he didn't pack muscle. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Being physically well-built for his entire life, Edward didn't feel the effects of old age hit him until he was in his mid 60's, when China invaded Alaska in 2066. Ghoulfication had hit Edward slightly less then what it should of, with the same appearances such as the normal ghoul skin conditions and the loss of his once long silver hair. His voice almost suffered no damages, although some tone of 'ghoulish' tone still appeared whenever he spoke but was almost not an issue. His eyesight, although not as good as they were in their prime, was better than it was when he was human. Being an avid fan of spaghetti westerns for his entire life, Edward tried to make his uniform as cowboy themed as possible when he was younger. Nowadays, Edward wore cowboy boots with spurs with a pair of grey bottoms. He wore a blue vest with red lining alongside a red tie and a bandolier and ammo belt. Over this set of clothing was his signature long brown coat, which was dusty from many years of use alongside a pair of red gloves. He carried a Brush Gun on his back while he had a large Bowie Knife at his waist. His signature weapons was a revolver, which Edwards legendary gun slinging abilities allowed him to inspire fear in the hearts of raiders any of his enemies. He was returning home from the far north, actually heading as far as Whitehorse in the Yukon and spending several years there before heading back to California. He had just cut past into Southern California after spending at least eight years heading back home, where he ultimately encountered a group of Raiders. These ones didn’t seem to be like the ones he found up north however, these ones resembled more like wild animals then criminals. Alongside a lonesome highway that he was traveling upon , five Raiders found him amongst the skeletons of destroyed cars.
