"Just the last raider group in the area, same tactic." Edward replied before changing his mind about something. "Actually, I have a better idea. We'll just go in guns blazing, no need for an infiltration this time. They only have 20 in this group."
Edward noticed the camp up ahead and instantly came up with an attack plan, noticing a motorcycle which he could use as a ramp. He quickly ran ahead towards Daren before launching himself into the air, backflipping in the process and shooting two raiders in the head in the process before landing on his knees, and proceeding to attack the other raiders in a single yet spectacular fashion until he had to reload. Each shot hit its mark perfectly and upon using his ricochet technique, took down more raiders then what his limited ammo could perform. By the time he reloaded, 15 raiders were dead. He left Daren deal with the rest. (Edward, then Damien a couple hundred-ish years later, basically has Gun Kata.)
(Yep. I do have a page here about it, http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GunKata. Although a video would explain it better) Once all the Raiders were cleaned up around the surrounding area of the Hub, the city would experience a brief period of relative peace. Of course, the city would always have problems with Raiders and that Daren and Edwards purge would only be for a temporary peace. But it was peace nonetheless. The citizens of the hub could now focus on retaking the water tower, which a caravan company was holding the entire town hostage in order for water to have a strict toll. While peace would follow about a year later, almost all of the problems would have vanished. Edward and Daren returned to Madam Hex, who was unfortunately on her last brink of life. She was on her sofa, wrapped up in a blanket and pillow, making peace to whatever gods existed in this new world. Edward didn't show emotion, but was overall saddened at the loss of one of the last remnants of his past life. (Edward basically uses this as his fighting style, although he does this with revolvers instead of pistols. Damien would also learn this from Edward far in the future as well, which is a major reason why Damien was so skilled with guns. His father focused on unarmed and melee combat, although there was a big emphasis on guns as well. Edward's teachings on Damien was essentially all guns with some level of unarmed. All this training with Edward occurred at some point in the early 2250's onwards. Training never stopped until Edward's mind began to go feral and ultimately sacrificed himself on the suicide mission that was Six Rivers in 2276, which was is considered the Mockingbird's Bitter Springs event.)
(well, one problem, it ignores people being behind cover and the person somehow knowing where the enemy is without being able to see them) Daren sat off to the side, uncertain of what to say or really even do in this situation.
Edward stood next to Madam Hex, the old woman on the sofa just on the brink of death. She felt like she had found peace in the barbarity and harsh existence of the wasteland. She looked at Edward one last time before closing her eyes and finally giving in, going out with a smile. Edward rose to his feet a second later before moving the table across the room and opening a safe underneath with a key. "She's gone, but she said that we can take what we need. I'll go bury her, she deserves a funeral." The Ghoul said, picking up the old woman and taking her outside. The next time that Daren would find Edward was just outside of town, where Madam Hex's body was being cremated and rested on a table in a beautiful fashion, as if the woman lived her entire life as a queen. Edward stood alone, watching the flames. (Wow, this is difficult. I don't want to change any of the timeline yet it's extremely difficult to make anything remotely interesting for a plot without having anything bigger than raiders, not to mention 3/4 of the settlements don't actually exist yet. There is no super mutant threat yet, no Shady Sands, and not really much els unless we can somehow think of something. Wanna end this and do a different idea?)
(Sure. I'll be John Trueman under the impression he got captured in his travels across New Mexico as he left Texas in 2266 and re-educated to where he almost completely forgot his old life.)
(I'll be Damien, except that he was born in the Legion and was raised and trained as a child prodigy. I'll play as another courier that I've recently made, I'll edit in the post later. Might take me a while to write.) Six weeks after he was born, Damien's mother vanished in the middle of the night in Arroyo and was never seen again. However, the mother decided to take the baby along with her, leaving Aaron Winters heartbroken and as a broken man. While Damien's mother headed across the United States, she never made it to her final destination on the East Coast. Instead, she abandoned the child somewhere near the Grand Canyon nearby the river while she vanished like a ghost. Instead, the child was found by the Blackfoot tribe, the first tribe to be assimilated into what would become Caesars Legion. When the Followers of the Apocalypse group containing Edward Sallow and Joshua Graham was captured and held for ransom in 2248, Damien and many of the tribal children took great interest to the group of strangers. While most of the children desired to make themselves useful to their tribe, Damien was a born warrior. Ever since he could walk, he had been tutored and placed under immense training physically. He was already the champion of the tribe's youth, being the most skilled in combat out of all of them. At the time the tribe was at war with seven other tribes, a war they were inevitably going to lose. Unwilling to be destroyed along with them, and against the wishes of his companions, Sallow chose to use his knowledge to train the Blackfoot tribe in the art of warfare after witnessing their lack of knowledge first hand. He showed them how to clean and maintain guns, operate with small unit tactics, create their own explosives and to strike at their weakest enemies first; divide et impera – divide and conquer. He quickly impressed them enough to the point where he was made their leader. Soon, after leading them to victory over the Ridgers and later the Kaibabs, Sallow became their war chief of sorts, taking the name "Caesar". As the Legion grew, Damien quickly adapted to the new self-proclaimed Emperor and truthfully lived under the flag of the Bull. The child, being the outcast of the entire tribe, was quickly noticed by Caesar. Extremely impressed with his skill as a warrior as a youth and his impressive physique at such a young age, Damien received special attention under Caesar. As the child grew, Caesar personally renamed the young boy as Cato Octavius and watched him grow, almost considering him as the son he never had. Cato surpassed all expectations and beyond. He became a Legionary at 13 before reaching the position of Centurion at 22. Cato was an unstoppable individual. Cato's physical attributes were at the peak of human potential, with some Legionaries considering his abilities such as strength, speed, durability, healing, eye sight and immune system at a "Super-Human" level alongside some other factors. Also processing an Indomitable Will, Cato was called unto the Legion whenever necessary, often being sent on "Special" missions. It is 2281, Cato is 38 years old and he is heading to the Mojave. The NCR has never seen anything like Cato, and once he arrives, he will strike down upon the Republic like a hammer. (When it comes to physical abilities, I've heavily based Damien as a slightly more realistic physical description of Batman's abilities, although his reflexes are practically superhuman. I would explain more since I've written all this down somewhere, but I'd likely bore you to death.)
(Nah, it likely wouldn't bore me) John Trueman had crossed the Rio Grande in 2266 after leaving behind a country he helped build and could have ruled. However, he had he misfortune of being in San-Fe (Santa Fe) when Caesar's Legion rolled in. He managed to hide out in the town for weeks, before being tracked down. He held out for half an hour against the Legion attacks before he finally ran out of ammunition, and was barely alive when he was dragged out of the clocktower he had been hiding in, but his spirit in his fight impressed the Centurian he was brought before, and was taken deep into Caesar's territory for "re-education" and legionary training. He was given the name Janius Truvus and his spirit was eventually broken and he became a model legionaire, but proved himself as very adept in the skills needed by Fumentarii, and was soon brought into the corp. There, he proved himself immensely valuable especially in the Taking of Denver and in mapping the Mojave just before the main force of the Legion arrived before the First Battle of Hoover Dam. In the time since this first Battle, Janius convinced Vulpes Inculta that he could found a new style of Fumentarii; a Legionary style Fumentarii. One that could be used in a flexible battle role from battlefield assassination and coordinated stealth attacks inside enemy territory, Vulpes agreed and made him Centurion of this new group. By 2281, the centurii was up and running in full strength and was now in the Mojave, and despite being over 50 years old, Janius was still doing better than most 20 year old Legionaires.
(I need to rewrite it at somepoint, I must have deleted it by accident.) Cato had just arrived inside of the Mojave, not exactly thrilled against the enemy he had been led to believe was strong. Cato personally led his own force of Legionaries made up of the very finest soldiers in the Legion, some being from the Painted Rocks tribe while others were Veteran or Decanus legionaries. He did not yet seek permission to reform his squadron into an official unit within the Legions ranks which promoted prestige and the elite force of the a Legion, similar how he believed the Rangers were different to the standard NCR forces. He was at The Fort, heading upwards after Caesar personally sought his personal attention. He wore the standard armour of a Centurion, relics from fallen enemies. Cato wore two shoulder pads and the chest piece of a suit of power armour, while the remainder of his armour was undeniably Legion and surprisingly good for stealth missions. His armour was painted black instead of silver and had a long red coat. He didn't know what Caesar required, but it was likely good news due to his recent victory over a group of rebels in Salt Lake City.
As Cato made his way up the Fort, Julius, Vulpes, and 6 of Julius' "Legionaire Fumentarii" made their way down the hill. Janius' armor was different from other Centurion's in that in wasn't made up of the armor of his enemies, it had some yes, but you wouldn't know it. He had his old armor and the enemy armor melted down and forged into armor that was a sort of full body version of true Roman segmentica and had toughed leather underneath to help stop bullets and sharpnel. Janius did the typical fist-over-heart salute as they passed Cato. They were on their way to Nipton, a mission meant to frighten the NCR by striking a town within NCR borders.
Cato responded with the same salute as Julius before heading into the tent, handing over his weapons in the process. Once inside, Cato went into the tent that was surrounded by the Praetorian Guard and some of Caesars inner circle. Cato instantly bowed before Caesar once he was close enough before rising up as Caesar spoke to him. "You've returned Cato, your success in putting down the rebellion in Salt Lake City was impressive. Of course, I didn't ask you to come before me just for a reward." Caesar responded. "Not at all, my Caesar." Cato responded. "You are going to be heading across the river to our encampment at Cottonwood Cove, you will receive further orders from there. Now, I've been putting some time into this idea. I've known you since you were a child, your practically a son to me. Because of your skill and position in the Legion. You will be receiving free control to reform and reorganise your Legionary unit any way you desire. You will also be receiving a new set of armour." Caesar spoke. "I know exactly how dangerous you are, so I can assure you that I'm placing the utmost faith in you to get the job done. You will also be given free range in your operations once you have completed your mission. That is all, go with Mars. Cato responded with the salute and bow before heading out of the tent. Not long later, he left the Fort entirely.
As the night fell, the group of Legionaires surrounded Nipton, watching as the plan they had put forward for the Mayor to convince the powder gangers to trap and capture the NCR soldiers in for the night went ahead without a hitch. Then, together with a squad of reinforcements they picked up at Cottonwood Cove, they attacked the town, which surrendered after meager resistance. Janius and the Fumentarii Legionaires took the NCR soldiers away from the main group, dragging them off into a small building on the edge of town as the rest herded the Powder Gangers and town citizens into the town hall. Inside, Janius and his men threw the NCR soldiers onto the floor and bound their wrists before forcing them to sit up in an execution position in a line. Janius walked in front of the soldiers, who had the machete gladiuses of his men at their throats, looking at them with contempt, "How pitiful." He stated bluntly, "A Legionaire would have fought until the enemy died or they died, while you cowards allow yourselves to be captured by petty criminals. You should be ashamed of yourself." Janius scorned them in a tone of almost disgust, before turning away slightly and pulling out his pistol, a Colt .45 revolver. Cocking the hammer back, he looked back at the NCR soldiers, "Hail." He said simply, to which his men replied in sync, "Caesar!" "Hail!" "Caesar!" Janius put the muzzle to the forehead of the first NCR soldier, a corporal judging by his insignia,"May Caesar live long!" He yelled as his men replied with a "Hail Caesar!" "Say it!" He ordered to the NCR soldier who responded by spitting at Janius. Glaring at the soldier, Janius pointed at one of his men, who kicked the soldier they had retained to the ground in front of the group before placing his knee on the soldier's back and yanking off the helmet, revealing a female soldier. The Legionaire grabbed a handfull of her hair and yanked her head back, revealing her bare throat before placing his gladius against it, cutting into the flesh. "Mars looks down upon the weak." Janius said simply, which was a coded order for the Legionaire to behead the NCR soldier. Slowly, that way the screams and sounds of the soldier drowning in her own blood would be dragged out for the Profligates' horror. Putting the muzzle to the head of another soldier, Janius looked back at the corporal, "You are all Profligates, the dirt we walk on is worth more than you. However, Profligates can be saved. If you don't submit, each and every one of you will meet the same fate." He told them in a low dangerous tone before continuing, "Long live Caesar." ***** When they left the small building some time later, only 3 of the original 8 soldiers remained alive. Some had their arms cut off and were left to bleed out in front of the survivors, others where shot non-lethally several times, all meant to shatter the spirits of those still alive. The three with them had been pulled out of their armor and put into a temporary set to show they were meant to go to "re-education". Pulling aside some Legionaires who just finished the last crucifixion, he had them take the "rescued" as he referred the ones he broke as back to Cottonwood Cove then went into the Town Hall just as the one winner of the lottery was left free to go, followed by Vulpes. "The soldiers were surprisingly resistant to savior." Janius told Vulpes, "Only 3 choose salvation in the Legion." "Hm, you usually get a better haul than that Janius. Maybe you're slipping?" Vulpes replied in his usual cool tone "No, I think this lot had greater faith in their leader than most Profligate squads, as it wasnt until I killed him did they submit and hail Caesar." Janius replied as they stepped out onto the porch of thr Town Hall. "Well, our mission is done. Wait, who's that?" Vulpes said, looking down the main road at a lonesome figure. (And that's what re-education does to you, it makes you quite literally, pretty much religiously fanatical to the point of what groups like ISIS in Islam are only in this case to the Legion. The reason why is training for kids who are born into Legion are raised with the expectation they will be loyal to the Legion because that's what they know and have been trained for, while re-education shoves Legion philosophy down your throat 24/7 until you break.)
A younger man, around in his late 20's, headed into Nipton only to be stopped by a Legionary and directed towards the Town Hall. He wasn't physically intimidating but there was a sense of mystery around him. He had light brown shaggy hair and moved towards the group. He wore leather armour and had a weathered 10mm pistol at his side. This was the courier who saved Goodsprings, a former mechanic in the NCRs mechanised corps that maintained trucks and other sorts of gadgets. And he was brought before the Legion....
Julius studied the man before them, he didnt look intimidating but still, better safe rhan sorry as he kept his weapon at the ready. Then Vulpes began talking to the man, saying he wanted him to take in the sight then report it back to the next NCR soldier he saw
