(How about a zerg rush of Red Eye troopers that slow down all sides, as well as Red Eyes troopers using pre war energy cannons against the Glorians and the other factions. That should slow us down for a while. So, the closer that we get to him, the more intense and longer the fights last.)
(Or maybe they could be pulling a NCR and they had packed Fillydeplhia outside of the Wall with explosives, thereby decimating the ground forces while they focus any air and anti-air assets they have on the Glorians, might not take down the Frigates, but it would force them to withdraw to a safer distance to reprepare, while at the same time doing a large, but not huge counter attack (to avoid losing a good portion of their defenders in case it turned against them, say 20-25% of Red Eye's force, which would be most of his original army, just condensed inside of Fillydelphia instead of across the Wasteland, charge forth to take advantage of the confusion following the detonation and also taking up defensive positions in the rubble, which would basically turn Fillydelphia into a sort of Stalingrad for the attacking forces)
A Red Eye soldier stood on a tower alone as the approaching forces of the accursed Federation and Glorians where drawn in by the feigned lack of resistance, where any of the casualties taken where simply the weakest and most useless of slaves, just like everywhere else. He opened up what seemed like a small briefcase that he took from off his back, where a detonator flashed and beeped at him. As explosions from the Glorian bombardment rang out disturbingly close, he flipped a few switches and turned the knob a bit, the pull back a small level, "Driista de ona diithanfiips." (Death to the Destroyers) he spoke strangely in Glorian, a language he had picked up from the his family which once lived on Ciilonii, and pushed the lever down as he was sure the vast majority of Federation forces where inside the city. The resulting explosion was massive enough to be seen from Friendship City, and could heard and felt like an large earthquake as far as Las Pegasus. The shockwave alone would have been enough to kill anything within a few kilometers from the city, or at least severely injure, and nearly knocked the Glorian frigates from the sky, and any Sabrii outside would have been swatted like a fly. However, despite this, Red Eye had his Wall reinforced enough to survive the blast and shield those below the Wall from the effects. This, however, excluded the soldier who set off the explosion, who was disintegrated by the sheer heat of the massive explosion. This single act made it clear Red-Eye was determined to take as many as he could with him in this battle, what was not known was that he had done the same thing with every other settlement he had previously occupied... (How's that?)
(Sounds great. Good Idea Snow ) With the explosion rocking Fillydelphia and ripping anything outside, the high majority of Federation soldiers were taken down in a single blow, 80% of which were just entering the city. The regular forces were the highest casualties, with at least 100,000 confirmed K.I.A alongside thousands of other forces such as the Commandos and less equipped ponies who simply were defending their homes. This took out almost half of the Federations numbers, with a significantly lower death count from the Brotherhood of Life, who were two kilometres away from the Federation with only 1,000 losing their lives. The Eternals looked around shocked as he caught in detail, his own ponies getting vaporized into ash before disappearing entirely. The shockwave knocked several thousand of the ponies back, especially the rear half of the Federation whom were injured via the shockwaves. Crimson then got word that this was not only happening in Fillydelphia, but also happening in every single captured settlement after Big Mountain. He got footage that Canterlot, Manehatten, and every single settlement, even the smallest of farming settlements were exploding in a similar manner. Canterlot survived the explosion, with the shield originally used 200 years ago being activated shortly after its capturement with its bomb being located outside the city where the original barracks were. This gave the Eternals pause. Shockwaves echoed across the enormous nation that is Equestria, like the nation itself was suffering a singular earthquake at once. The explosions could be seen as far as Roam, 2,000 miles away from Fillydelphia in Zebrica, the zebra homeland. The Federation was crippled, but the Brotherhood and the Guardians who travelled through the sewers underneath the city survived. Nonetheless, the Brotherhood survived the explosion almost unharmed, with a slight exception of its losses that were leading the Federation. They were going to prove that they were serious about finishing Red Eye, instead of playing war. Almost instantly as revenge, the Brotherhood and the Federation stormed across the field which used to be a neighborhood. Crimson and the Eternals were still alive, but were now seriously angered in an almost ruthless aggression. They were going to take as many of those slaver bastards as they could to avenge their fallen. Starting with any solider they can see...
(You know, wouldn't the Eternals be at least concussed from the massive shockwave? Sure they have really tough skin and all but...sound doesn't really care about how tough something is...plus the bright flash of light would be very disorienting...I guess I'm saying is that it would be highly unlikely that the Eternals, are tough as they are, would get through such an explosion perfectly fine, oriented, and unscathed.) Jarii and everyone in the Stable was thrown off their feet and hooves as the massive earthquake caused by the explosion shook them violently. The entire top level of the Stable was cracked open like a nut, killing anyone left on the first floor through the sheer heat of the explosion and the destabilized concrete and steel above those on the second level's heads groaned, splintered, and threatened to give way and bury them under the rubble. Jarii shakingly put his hands to his ears where a sharp ringing was the only sound he heard. The shockwave had ruptured his eardrums, and caused minor internal bleeding. He closed his eyes to shut out the spinning world and curled up in a fetal position as the pain coursed through him, but he pushed through without majorly crying out in pain, instead simply waiting for someone less injured than he to happen upon him and begin administering first aid.
(I written that post to make it appear that the Eternals looked fine, but they are honestly in a bad condition. Also, introducing a new character Halfway during the storm, the Eternals discovered that they were not so lucky. Just after they made it over a quarter of the field, the effects of the explosion kicked in as they began to suffer serious migraines, alongside blood dripping from their ears and weeping from their eyes. They all took cover behind one of the few remaining cover from the onslaught of Red Eye, the rubble of what used to be an office building. As soon as they could, the Brotherhood sent a small team of combat medics to their position. The medical team themselves were injured, but told them that they were priorities and that their safety came later. The Eternals were used to getting concussed, but neither to this level nor magnitude. The Eternals, while suffering from the effects of the explosion, were temporarily out of the fight. Meanwhile... The Guardians took Red Eye by surprise and appeared out of nowhere from the sewers, easily holding their own against the slavers. One of these Guardians, a earth pony mare, received orders to find Jarii and his squad. She was taken to the nearby Stables not far from the Guardians entrance, only to discover that its first level and entrance was utterly destroyed. Nonetheless, she made her way down into the Stable to find Jarii and escort him to safety. If need if he was injured, she could perform medical training. She was injured, but several medical ‘adjustments’ in the form of healing potions helped fix that problem.
Admiral Tibar scrambled around the bridge of his light frigate, the Friinatora, going station to station to check on the ship and asses damages and losses. Though the shielding on the ship protected it from damage, it was obvious the stabilizers where still having a hard time keeping the ship steady and in the air. More than 12 Sabriis and 2 Striitus had been lost in the shockwave just on the Friinatora, it was unknown what the other frigate, the Briix, had taken in way of losses and damages. "We can't go back now with these losses...we have to justify them..." he grimaced to himself, knowing that there was potentially hundreds of millions of dollars lost on the damaged and destroyed spacefighters and cruisers, along with the loss of life, and went over to his gunner director, "Order the cannons to level what's left of the city. I want overcharged explosive shots fired at that place, nopony leaves it alive." He said, not knowing of the Guardians within, "Fire all we got at them. Nothing makes Ciilonii take losses without suffering 15 times worse of a fate."
(Well....S**T. I was going to rescue 'Miss Plot device' and kill Red Eye with as much of the city intact as possible. This could also work as well, but Crimson would be pissed.) Crimson rested upon the rubble as two medics tended to his wounds. He had several communication networks available to the main commanders to his factions, from the commanders in the Brotherhood to the only one of the Glorian commanders, that commander being Tibar. As he was about to report to Tibar about his situation, he accidentally tapped into his discussion about leveling the city. Crimson would have not cared about the destruction of the city, he could easily rebuild it within a hundred years after it was razed. However, his forces were still inside of the city, not to mention Jarii. And only one more thing was inside of the city, the pegasus who he had been looking for over 200 years. His wife, who had presumed dead since her 'murder' by Vulcan. If the city were destroyed, then she would be as well. There was not a chance in hell this was going to happen. Crimson then pressed his ear piece and began to speak. "Tibar. I understand that you want to avenge these losses, and that simpily blasting the city will solve all your problems. However, i need the city intact to rebuild Equestria quicker. I've also discovered my wife, who i believed was dead for over 200 years, had been in cryo underneath the city. I have been looking for her since she disappeared. From one commander to another, i beg you. Please, don't destroy the city. If you want to avenge those lost, take down the walls protecting the city and we will do the rest." "Please...."
Tibar considered what Crimson suddenly injected, "Leveling the city wouldn't hurt your wife if she's buried underground. If that was so, she would have been killed by the explosion. However, since you have men inside...We shall bomb instead areas of heavy resistance as per stradegy, and I guess we will level the walls." Tiber replied
Crimson breathed a sigh of relief as the news from Tibar echoed in his head, however, the news about his wife seemed daunting. Regardless if she was dead, Crimson and the Eternal's only wanted to see her one more time. He turned his head slightly to his left as he looked upon the Glorian ships in the air, watching as the cannons were being extended towards heavily populated areas then suddenly firing with blue pulses that caused a deafening explosion. He then, as soon as he could, turned his head over cover as he then watched a small part of the wall protecting Fillydephia get demolished as another round from the Brixx hit its mark. The section of the wall crumbled as it created a gap in the wall slightly over a hundred meters wide, easily large enough for the Brotherhood and the remainder of the Federation to enter. Crimson then held his ear piece once more. “Thank you for this. Remind me that I owe you later, first round’s on me.” The team of Brotherhood medics soon looked at Crimson and the Eternals and nodded, indicating they were back to normal and were ready to return to the fight. If it wasn’t for their slight regeneration capabilities, they would have been out of the fight permanently. Crimson got straight back up, took his rifle and headed into the city with his forces alongside the Eternals. Red Eye was still putting up a fight, but not large enough to cause any serious problems. Now, he had to deal with dark grey armored Guardians, the Special Forces branch of the Federation whose skill was between a Ranger and a Commando (Not to mention well equipped), the numerous regular forces of the Federation and the Brotherhood of Life with the Eternals. And to make matters worse, the Eternals had the assistance of all the major Equestrian factions and the Glorians. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The lone Guardian leapt into the Stable without any assistance as she made her way down the several levels, managing to avoid some of the more dangerous levels of the first floor. Eventually, she was found by the Steel Rangers and recognized as a friendly. What came to her mind first as she wandered around looking for survivors was a Glorian curled up in a feral position. She immediately came to his aid and started to perform basic military first aid. She could easily save him, but his health was deteriorating severely. Because of this, and that she quickly discovered that the Glorian is the squad leader, made her the priority. And to her surprise, she was not alone with several Ranger scribes managing to keep themselves intact and assist with the remaining injured.
Jarii felt somepony begin to attempt to tend to him and he grimaced and bit his lip to get out through the pain, "B-bag, n-needle wi-with b-bl-blue fluid, i-into v-v-vein!" He groaned, hands covered in blood from his ear as he quivered in pain.
The Guardian looked nearby from her patient and found a small yet slightly torn brown bag several meters from where Jarii quivered in pain. She went to the bag and, as he said, found a needle with a strangle blue liquid. She then removed a slight arm piece of his armor and injected the liquid into his arm. Almost instantly, the pale arm began to return to it's natural state as she patched it up with a small cloth to stop any blood from weeping out.
Jarii took a few shuddering breaths as the medicine worked its magic through his veins, soon returning to a state where he could be of use, though the pain, though dulled, was still there. Sitting up, he looked quickly around, one thought on his mind, "My squad, where is my squad?!" he almost demanded to no particular pony, before attempting to get up, but that caused him to nearly blackout in the suddenness, putting him right back on his butt. Grimacing, he looked to the pony who had attended to him, "Thanks for the help, but I will not leave until I have my entire squad, be they dead or alive."
"I understand." the Guardian spoke through her helmet, revealing her gender. "The surviving Ranger scribes are tending to your squad as we speak. I'm the only one of the Federation here, the remainder are now inside of the city. I received orders to find you and, if injured, tend to your wounds. The surviving scribes helped greatly, your squad has been taken to the medical section."
Jarii grunted and pushed himself up to his feet, "I will not leave without them." he said coldly to the guardian, before turning away and walking away on his own to find his squad, not caring for any protest against it. He would not leave without them, thus is the duty of the squiidarriius, to never leave a single member of his or her squad behind...
With the entry of the Federation and the Brotherhood inside of the wall, along with the bombardment from the Glorians, Red Eye was losing soldiers fast. While he had numbers, his forces had not even a fraction of the skill or abilities that the Brotherhood or the Federation had, the Glorians were a whole different story. The Brotherhood took the front lines and almost turned the battle into a massacre, while the Federation gave the Brotherhood some assistance in clearing out the streets. A seemingly endless torrent of Guardians arrived from an old waste plant, taking Red Eye by surprise and adding to the onslaught. Even with a mass explosion that wiped almost half the Federation, Red Eye was still put in an enormous disadvantage. The Eternals were now being assisted by the Brotherhoods very best, Elysium Squad, which were the protege's of the Eternal's and were practically Eternal 2.0's. Red Eye was losing territory and soldiers faster than he could even get into formation.
