"Oh. Hello Damien." John said to him upon noticing Damien, "Done with whatever you're doing?" He asked before suddenly stopping to turn on Radio New Vegas out of curiosity. "Time for some news. Reports say that Caesar has been killed by an unknown party. How the individual managed to evade security is uncertain. That's right, Caesar, dead. A shocking turn of events whose impact is anyone's guess. In other news; rumors suggest that Mister House, the father of New Vegas, has passed away, who shall fill the power vacuum on the Strip, remains to be seen. Finally, NCR has reported a disturbing increase of Gloriian activity around the Mojave. A few NCR troopers reported to us that Gloriian scouts have been spotted as far East as Hoover Dam and Bitter Springs. Please, stay careful out there around those people, and certainly don't appear to attack them. This is mister NEW Vegas signing off, heh, I'm just kidding, my love for you is too strong." (I wonder what Three Dog would say about the Gloriians...)
(He might treat them with some respect, but would otherwise treat them like the Brotherhood/Enclave would.) "I wonder who could have done such a thing" Damien replied sarcastically. "I would actually like the Glorians to take the Mojave, they obviously know what they are doing since they have experienced the same thing over 500 years ago. As long as they allow me to continue my life at my home, I'll be happy. Hell, maybe I'll fall in love with some girl from the strip after Anna. She would have been happy."
John chuckled slightly and nudged Damien, "Might even grab yourself one of them Gloriian women, you see some of them? Man, where they beautiful!" He said with a small laugh, "Well, I guess not being exposed to radiation of some form from the moment you're born can help in that respect." John added, "Well, anyways, the Primaperator sent me on a mission to either kill the Boomers, or convince them to open up Nellis for the Gloriians to use. All without getting blown-up."
(I found this at school while i was doing “Work”. It’s a bit long, but it’s an interest read nonetheless. Thought you might like it, it can be found here. Also, when i think Elatians, i think Space Marines. Dunno why...) "Sounds...hazardous." Damien replied before laughing for a slight second. "Look's like the Primaperator wants to deal with any nuisance's around the Mojave before what's left of the Legion under Lanius attacks an exhausted NCR. Nellis would help the Glorian's, but considering no outsider has ever made it alive to the gate, then that eliminates the possibility of simply jumping the fence."
John nodded, "But I'm sure we'll find a way to make it. Where there's a will, there's a way." he said to Damien, before looking forward towards the hill that was the final bit of cover before Nellis, "Looks like we'll have to come up with a way real quick though.." he muttered (Speaking of nuclear war, fun fact! Because of the once major air base in the Metroplex(where I live) in Texas, we would have been one of the first targets in a nuclear exchange between the US and Soviet Union!)
(I was thinking that because of your location, you would not get much time to escape. For example, lets say that a ICBM from Moscow was launched to target Paris, it would take at least four minutes. That's like making a cup of coffee, but not drinking it. Because i live in the most northern suburb of Adelaide, getting out of Gawler (My town) would have not taken very long and i could have made it to Port Wakefield or Clare (Both about 120-170km away from Adelaide and very small towns) by the time a ICBM were to hit Adelaide. Because of Australia's isolation from the rest of the world, which would have allowed an ICBM, if it were to be launched by China or the Soviets, it would have taken an hour to hit anyway. Plus, i already have a detailed doomsday scenario planed with my friends that involves us living in a already built fort in the middle of nowhere. Plus, my friend builds swords for a hobby, so that's a bonus.) "Let's get started then" Damien said, cracking his neck as he focused his eyes onto the air base before he took off towards the base as the first artillery shells were launched. Despite all of their efforts, the boomers could not even touch him. Damien did trip accidentally when one of the missed artillery shells explosive shock-wave sent him forwards, but quickly recovered. He dodged the shells and quickly waved his hand for John, expressing that it's "Now or Never".
John quickly scanned the area up to the fence of Nellis, knowing that he wouldnt be able to pull off what Damien had. He suddenly smiled when he noticed a line of ruined houses and buildings in a line towards the fence, taking off towards them, he jumped and dived through the buildings, using the ruined roofs as cover against the Boomer's bombardment. In quick order, though not as fast as Damien's run, John reached the safe zone by the fence line and jogged up to Damien by the gate with a smile on his face before a Boomer weilding a rocket launcher approached them, "J-just hold it right there!" he demanded, "How the hell did you survive that bombardment?!" he asked both of them "For me? There's a little line of cover in those houses leading right to your fence, just timed it right. Damien here just outran it." John replied. "Impossible! I had you zeroed in the whole time!" he tried to plead before being interrupted. "I'll take it from here." said another Boomer wearing combat armor (forgot her name x3)
Damien soon stood right next to John as he brushed off some dust of his Duster before giving the Boomers a friendly wave. He soon looked at Raquel as she introduced herself. "I'm Raquel, master-at-arms for the Nellis homeland. Mother Pearl, our eldest, wishes to speak with you." Damien then looked at John before looking at Raquel. "Lead the way"
When Raquel brought them to Mother Pearl, she instantly greeted them, "Welcome children! Took your sweet time getting here, didn't you? I've been waiting a good five years for an outsider to come along and visit!" "Expecting us? You didn't exactly roll out a red carpet!" John replied wildly, referring to the artillery "Those howitzers aren't just for entertainment, child! Explosive ordinance is what keeps the savages at a distance! Except you two! There's something about you two, children, and it was the howitzers that gave you the chance to show it!" Pearl replied as if that made it all better. "Well...then..." John thought for a second before thinking that gaining their trust would be the best possible way to get the Boomers to open up Nellis to the Gloriians, "How might we be of assistance?" "Oh, so many ways! Small ones so we can get used to having sav-" Mother Pearl suddenly caught herself then recorrected, "Outsiders around and about. Should that go well, it may be that you can help in big ways too! We'll have to see." "Well, what needs to be done?" "You two picked a good time to stop by, for we are swimming in problems. My youngsters can tell you two all about it. Raquel could use some help with the bug problem, Doc Argyll has wounded he's been tending to, and Loyal and Jack may be looking for help with some repairs. Or you two could just see Pete at the museum and hear the story of our people. All you have to do there is listen. Come and go as you two like, help or don't help, I'll leave it up to you two. But I hope that between the pair of you, you'll show my youngsters not every outsider needs to be blown up." Pearl finished and turned away. After Pearl's talk, John turned to Damien, "Well, I guess the best way to go about this is to divide it up. You should probably take care of the bug problem, considering your better ability in direct combat, and I should take care of the problems Loyal and Jack have. One of us should also see to their wounded, and the other listen to the story of the Boomers..." (Oh, and I made the Elatians for my mod, meaning that the NPC "shells" are done. So, for a test, I made a Gloriian "attack group" of 16 Riigulas, 8 Magniitiums, and 4 Elatians (which would be the typical group Glory would send against its targets during the battle of Hoover Dam. Put up against 3 waves of 30 NCR troopers and finished with being surrounded by 50 Legion of various rank, only 10 of the 28 Gloriians died, while everyone else was massacred.) - - Auto Merge - - (Oh, and if you want, I'ld be willing to livestream a Glorian fight for ya when we're both on.)
(I'll really like that. Cheers buddy) "Alright. I'll deal with this bug problem then and i'll listen about the Boomers history. See you back here later." Damien said as he left towards Raquel. When he eventually found her, she told him that two (or three, cannot remember) other boomers had made it down the generator and were killed by ants. Deciding to take precautions before he headed down, Damien soon met up with Loyal inside of the hanger. "Raquel said you were building some kind of weapon to fight the giant ants?” "I started building a sonic emitter that might do the trick, but it's useless without knowing exactly what frequency that would kill the ants"Loyal told Damien. “Any signal over 20,000 hertz at 150 or more decibels should do the trick.” “Hot damn, your right! It’s a matter of boosting across those thresholds, not exact amplitude. You’re smarter than you look. Just so happens I was testing it at 24,000 hertz, so it should be good to go. Place it near their nest and cross your fingers. Signals’ too high for people to hear, so no harm done, but it might make you feel sick to your stomach.” “Appreciate the help Loyal, thank you.” Damien then headed towards the apparent generators that Raquel told him about, and there were dozens of ants all over the place. Instead of taking down the ants one by one, Damien quickly sprinted until he came to a dead end of the platform and jumped onto a crate before jumping again to hit the ground. Once he came down, he quickly ran over to the nest and placed the emitter on the ant hill before the ants even realized what had happened. Soon, their heads exploded as the emitter worked its magic. After restarting the generators, Damien took some spare ammo for his weapons inside the same room with plenty of 308.ammo around before heading back to the surface and travelling to see Pete and listen to this story. (I’ve done this quest about three hours ago on another profile. What a coincidence...”
John decided to go to Loyal first to see what he needed done. After a quick conversation with him, John was tasked with finding out how to fix the solar arrays atop the generator bunker somehow. Deciding that Helios One would be the best place to find spare parts, he hoofed it all the way back down to the electric facility, at the same time wondering if the Gloriians would attack it during Hoover Dam. Quickly making his way around the facility, he salvaged several old, unused solar panels for parts then headed back to Nellis, where he fixed, cleaned, polished, and improved the efficiency a bit of the solar arrays, about 50%. He then went down to the terminal he noticed by one of the generator bunker's doors and used it to calibrate the solar arrays to be even yet more efficient (total of 75% increase) then returned to Loyal and told him that the arrays were fixed, completing one part of the tasks he needed to do, so he headed off to Doc Argyll's bunker to help him tend to the wounded Boomers.
Damien went over and listened to the story being given by Pete about the Boomers history. After introducing himself and asking to hear about the story, Pete responded and stood besides Damien as they both walked towards the first painting, a picture of Vault 34 before walking down the room, looking at the paintings as they went down "Ages ago, long before I was born, we lived underground. Everyone had guns but the overseer wouldn't let us explode anything, not even a hand grenade. We left and wandered the wastes. There were savages with knives. We blew them up with frag mines and grenades, burned them with flamethrowers. It was neat, but there was a downside. For every 43.6 savages we killed, we lost one of our own. We needed a new home. We needed Nellis. Here, we have prospered and multiplied. Here, our mighty guns destory any savages who might to harm us before they can reach our gates!" Damien looked at Pete and raised an eyebrow. "Well,until...but.... not saying you and your friend want to harm us or you're a savage, but...anyways. Nellis has revealed many secrets. It has taught us how to fly the bombers once based here. And it has taught us where to find one! And that is our story so far, for this last image is our future." Damien looked at the B-29 superfortress on the picture, dropping dozens of high powered bombs upon many 'Savages', quite impressed and curious about the plane. He had never seen a plane other then a vertibird, but not an actual plane. "To restore the bomber, to fly the open skies in armored safety, raining high-explosive ordnance upon ignorant savages - this is our destiny! I'm pleased that you listened to the entire story! Perhaps there are details you'd like to know more about? Let me know." After several questions, Pete became impressed about the Outsiders questions and responses. Soon after saying goodbye, Damien walked out of the museum. (Alright. I'm on.)
Before entering the medical barracks, John read through a medical magazine he had been keeping for some time on him to supplement his knowledge of medicine to more properly treat the wounded. Upon entering, John had a quick discussion with Doc Argyll to let him know why he was there, and that he had a good knowledge of medical treatment before asking for permission to work on the wounded Boomers. After he was giving the go ahead, John went through and studied each Boomer to determine which one would need treatment the soonest, and he quickly realized none of the wounds were actually that bad, but were very dangerous if they werent caught. From allergic reactions to ant stings to being wounded by bits of an ant's exoskeleton(which could be explained by exploding ants, something John did not feel too keen to face). John went through and treated each one, taking a few hours total to get all three Boomers stable and on the path to recovery. Smiling at a job well done, he told Doc Argyll about it and actually managed to get a compliment out of him. Afterwards, John figured that between him and Damien, the Boomers should trust them enough for Mother Pearl to reveal the "big way" they could help, and hopefully on the path to getting them to open up Nellis without having to kill them...
Damien soon found himself speaking to Pearl to see if they were helping the Boomers in the right way, and it turned out they were. Pearl soon got Damien and John together and told both of them about the “Lady in the water” and their dream of restoring the plane. After speaking to Loyal and receiving the appropriate materials to use to raise the plane, Damien and Jack soon built two matching re-breather's to ensure their safety when attaching the ballast’s to the wings. Soon, the two of them headed towards Lake Mead to bring the plane out of the lake.
As John and Damien approached Lake Mead, preparing for a swim in the lake, a thought suddenly crossed John's mind, "Hey Damien, how do you think the Gloriians will react to the Boomers having this bomber? After all, they want access to Nellis so they can have a base for their own aircraft planetside." He asked Damien, "Think they'll be okay with the Boomers also being in the sky?"
"Short term would be fine, Long term would not happen. The Glorians might be fine with the Boomers assistance during the battle at Hoover Dam, but they will eventually kick them out of the airbase. If the Boomers were to attack them, they might shoot the bomber out of the sky and the Glorians would basically wipe out the Boomers. However, if such a choice were to be taken, the Glorians would lose huge numbers in their already low population numbers on the colony. They don't want to take a risk like that." Damien said, adjusting the re-breather onto his face and pulling out his machete incase of underwater combat with Lakelurks. He gave the thumbs up and jumped into the lake. - - Auto Merge - - (Thinking of doin drawings of OC's, such as Crimson and Julion and so forth. Interested?)
(Yea, sure. Sounds cool.) John had his doubts about Damien's assertion that the Gloriians would be quite so defenseless against an air attack, but nonetheless, he slipped on his rebreather and swam out to besides Damien, nodding to him showing that he was ready to go.
(My last post sounded like dribble when Damien talked about the Glorians, possibly did not come out right. But anyway....) Damien responded to John's signal by diving down towards the bottom of the lake, quickly finding the steel machine that was the B-29 superfortress. Just like Loyal had told him, the plane itself was enormous. He went towards the left wing between the two propellers and attached the ballast there, while he signaled John to do the same thing. He handed over the detonator to John, giving him the honor of raising the 'lady' out of the water and to clear anything dangerous nearby the location.
