(Mhm! I did the detonation of several 2 mt bombs at important places around the Metroplex I live in, I would likely not get killed by the blasts themselves, but the winds they produce and also radiation. Basically, if nukes where coming in mass to my area, which they would considering the large population density, I would have mere minutes to find some underground shelter x3. Also, I kinda don't feel like doing the killing of all those groups, wanna just do a general overview and get to Kimball?)
(Might as well, might get tedious to write what happened to the groups in detail. Even then, it might last about seven pages)
(Alright, I'll start with us nearing Hoover Dam.) John lifted a small disk up and flicked it on, and it soon featured a hologram of the Viceroy in his palm, "Alright Viceroy, we're at Hoover Dam, what do you want us to do with Kimball?" The Viceroy chuckled and replied, "Oh why we have quite the idea we need you two to do, simply put, save Kimball's life, and then announce yourselves as Gloriian agents. That will force them to either A): open up negotiations with us to discuss peace as, after all, we just saved their leader's life, and the loss of McCarran definitely gives us the edge in the war, or B): go against morality and attack the saviors of their president. If they don't attack you, approach Kimball and tell him that Glory will be willing to open peace negotions following Hoover Dam. That is all."
Damien was dressed in his armor as stood besides John, coughing slightly while the Viceroy gave them their instructions. Despite being in full armor, he also had a black formal suit with a small Glory eagle metal packed in a small bag. However, the courier stood with his hands behind his back as he looked at the hologram. Once discussions were over, Damien looked at the map of where the speech was being undertaken. "Knowing the Legion, they are most likely to assassinate Kimbell from this tower after disguising themselves as an NCR trooper. Also, they could have somebody inside the NCR and could plant some sort of explosive, let's say a brick of C4, onto the Vertibird he is going to arrive on, in which the NCR could remove. I'm not exxactly sure about what is going to happen soon. Option A is the ideal choice, but Option B is risky. We'll see what happens...."
(Found a better nuke thing: http://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/ ) John nodded, "Or the Legion could use those cliffs." he pointed out as they approached the Dam itself, "Or maybe they could have a sniper and plant a bomb on the Vertibird." he suggested, "So I would suggest the two of us keep an eye out on all possibilities."
(Just tried it in the center of Adelaide again, and other important locations. Even with the most common warhead, which would be a W-76, it would take about three of them in a line to affect where i live in a line. Plus, it would have taken about an hour to reach Adelaide, giving me lot's of time to find cover underground (I already know a place) or drive north, plus everything north of my town is basically a desert. Then there is the political side of things, such as the relationship between America and Australia and so forth.) "Let me handle the sniper, there's bound to be one sooner or later." Damien told John. "Should we introduce ourselves..."
(Yea, 4 bombs of at least 5 MT basically dooms me unless I can get underground.) John nodded, "And we shouldn't openly announce ourselves until we kill the assassin and save Kimball." John then came around the corner in the road to where they could see the concrete wall that spanned the Colorado called Hoover Dam, "Such a small, insignificant thing in the grand scheme of things, if you think about it. But it is here that the fate of nations that will be decided..."
"Whoever controls that, controls the future" Damien said as they both walked over a makeshift bridge of metal while they came close around the corner of a small rocky landscape, where they seen the stage and it's spectators, and an enormous security presence made up of Rangers, Troopers and even a K9 unit. Soon, they were noticed by the Rangers as one of them came up to introduce himself.
"You two have a lot of nerve for showing your faces around here." The ranger said to them dangerously, "You must be damned crazy if you think I'm going to let two known agents of Glory anywhere NEAR President Kimball." John simply stepped forward and remarked, "How about a little payment to 'ensure' our good behavior? And that we promise to help defend him and will not resist any orders?" John said, "I would say it's a fair deal, no?" The Ranger stared at him for a few seconds before simply saying, "5,000 caps. Take it or leave it." John looked to Damien, "How much caps you got? I've got 2,500."
"Well aren't we in luck, i have 3,000 caps" Damien replied before looking at the Ranger. "That's enough for both of us to enter, now it's your turn to take it or leave it." The ranger grumbled before taking both Courier's caps and allowing them in. "Your free to enter, however. Any hostile actions against the President and you're both dead." Damien felt his pockets become lighter due to the excess weight of his caps, but knew that it was enough. "That could have gone better. Now, we should see the head ranger here first, so that would make our business here official."
John looked around the place, "You go do that, you have the most history with the NCR as far as I know. Me...well, me and NCR have never been good friends..." He muttered before slipping into the forming crowd to watch President Kimball's speech.
Damien walked off once John blended into the crowd and went up to see Ranger Grant, who was in charge of security for the presidential visit. Grant recognized Damien and went down to great him, despite Damien's allegiance to Glory. "I remember you...." Grant began. "It cant be....Ranger Winters?" "A former Ranger, Grant. I left before the First Battle of Hoover Dam." "What would your father say about this?" "He would support me actually, he believes the NCR cant control the Mojave and that further expansion for the republic would destroy it under this government." "But you know the Mojave needs proper order...pro-" "Proper order is being restored to the Mojave, Kimbell fails to realize this. I left the Rangers after 19 years of service in 2277 after i met my wife Anna, who was then killed by the Legion. Since then, I've undertaken a personal crusade to destroy Caesar's inner circle until i reach that bastard himself. Cottonwood Cove was my work, Me and another Glorian agent named John both wiped out the Fort together. My point it that as long as Kimbell remains in power, or the government stays the way that it is, the republic is in trouble. NCR is fighting a losing battle by declaring war against Glory." "What do you mean?" "That's how revolutions start, isnt it? I'm surprised you haven't already had one. When the people want proper order to be returned to the NCR, i can assure you that Glory is likely not going to help you. I can just see it happening now. Now, i've come to ensure Kimbell survives this speech. There are legionary assassins everywhere." Damien then pointed to the disguised Legionary, dressed as a Ranger, on the tower. "There's one right there, but he is likely to await until Kimbell makes it to some point in his speech. Besides, the president isn't here yet." "Anything else?" "Legion could blow up Bear Force One while it takes off, or rig the artillery gun nearby to shoot the vertibird down. I should double check security if i were you, NCR security now is sloppy. Almost insulting actually." "Right, i'll double check. You deal with any assassins." "Is that anyway to talk to your former superior?" Grant then stuttered then saluted. "Sir..." "That's better." Damian smiled before walking down with access to deal with the sniper on the roof. He had to deal with this quickly however, he could pick up the sound of the vertibird arriving from the distance.
(Hey Crim, you do know the assassin doesn't come in until WHILE Kimball's making his speech, right? Remember, he throws that ranger off the tower and all...) John looked around the crowd, carefully concealing his face from the troopers in a non-suspicious manner as he made his way to the center of the crowd, a tactic he remembered training for oh so long ago back i- He shook his head slightly suddenly, Don't want to call those memories up, here least of all, he thought to himself as he heard the sound of a Vertibird approaching. As hard as it may be at the sight of that... he continued to think as the presidential Vertibird came in from over the cliff face to the north
(Oops, sorry about that. Haven't played New Vegas in a while, busy finishing off FO3.) Damien was given access by the NCR to investigate the Legion, noticing out the corner of his eye that one of the Ranger's appeared to have arrived late as he took the stairs up the tower. Knowing full well what was about to happen, Damien followed from a distance. As he made his way up, President Aaron Kimbell walked across to the stage guarded by an entire squad of Veteran Rangers as he was about to make his speech. As the president made his way up to the stage, Damien had a bad feeling about the events that are about to be set in motion. If only him and John could communicate through an earpiece, if they had one.
John blinked hard as President Kimball stepped up onto the platform, trying to control his inner urges formed during his not so great younger years, fighting an overwhelming urge to pull out Lucky and not only have the pistol take the life of three major leaders, but also the completion of a mission given to him long ago, back in his teen years and the NCR had just...John violently shook his head again, drawing the attention of a few troopers to him before waving them off, barely managing to avoid attention, then focused on that one tower Damien had pointed out about a potential sniper point to distract himself. Moving out of the crowd itself, he looked at it just in time to see someone throw what must had been a ranger off the tower and tumbling down the wall of the Dam, grimacing, in one swift motion, he removed his GESR-11 from its concealment place and brought it up to his shoulder in one swift motion, training he thought he had long forgotten kicking in as he sensed the crowd starting to react in various ways to the pulling out of his weapon and then in what seemed to observers as a shot pointed at Kimball, he squeezed the trigger, getting the shot off just in time to be tackled by exactly 4 Rangers, how he knew, he didn't know, but in the slowed down moment he was in, he watched in small happiness as the blue bolt from the sniper sped at the figure, and getting him right in the head, and sent a small prayer that Damien would think to check the Vertibird before it took off, just before his head slammed into the concrete and knocked him out cold.
The blue bolt appeared out of nowhere completely took Damien by surprise. The next thing he seen was John being knocked out cold. Cursing under his breath, he went back down to the stage where over a dozen Ranger's had their rifles pointed at Damien the moment he exited. Damien, having no intention to fight, went over to Grant while being followed by Veteran Rangers. He was pissed. Very pissed. "Alright. Somebody needs to explain to me what the f**k just happened !" Damien said, his anger clearly evident on his face. (Did you just kill the Sniper, or Kimbell?)
(He killed the sniper, but nearly shot Kimball. I'll explain all of what was going on with John soon. Since John's knocked out, you might wanna continue)
"You and your friend has almost killed the President." Grant said as Troopers came to reinforce the circle that surrounded Damien. "While you have done nothing, your friend has almost cost us our leader. You should face the same charges as he does " "Well then....aren't we mature." Damien sarcastically said. "You specifically knew about a sniper being up there after i told you about the location being an excellent vantage point. You allowed me to investigate. The Sniper's dead, but not until he killed another Ranger that was positioned up there. And yet, you and your friends here seem to think I was responsible for committing a crime against Kimbell?" "Look Winters. We know your innocent, but your friend is a loose cannon who shot a round about 8 inches away from the President's temple. But we aren't taking chances due to your status as a Glorian agent, so you shall be placed under ar-." "And you think this gives you power over me?" Damien said, scaring some of the troopers as they stepped backwards. "We have business to do Graham, we need to ensure the president is safe. I might not serve the NCR anymore, but it's still my homeland. I care for it as much as the Glorian's. I was born in it, raised in it , fought for it. I was sure as hell ready to die for it as well, but not anymore. Now, order your men to stand down and protect the president. There might be a bomb planted on his Vertibird." Grant instantly told his men to stand down as they followed Damien towards the tower of where the Vertibird was placed, finding a bomb attached to it and disabling it. Once done, Damien went to meet the president and have a discussion.
John slowly sat up, rubbing his head in pain, "Uhg..." he muttered, "For once...They actually did something for the better..." he muttered to himself before shaking his head, "No...I did something for the better.." John slowly got up and rubbed his head some more as he looked over to see Damien walking over to talk with Kimbell, nodding slightly, knowing that they had done their job, John slowly slipped away and found a way up the cliffs overlooking the Dam, where he plopped down and sat, watching as Damien began speaking to President Kimball, "The NCR should have died long ago..." he muttered to himself as he silently slipped out Lucky and placed it into his lap, "But then..." John shut his eyes tight and clenched his jaw as memories of that tragic siege came flooding back, "[Censored] Navarro..." he muttered to himself just as he got a flashback of remembering seeing his dad get his brains splattered against a wall by some super elite NCR ranger, literally had his head slammed into a concrete wall, a sight no 15 year old should see...John took a deep breath, "I should have died long ago.." he muttered
(Plot twist! Damien's father killed John's father. Just an idea) Aaron Kimbell watched Damien walking up to Kimball, suddenly remembering the face of the man as memories came back to him. He was surprised, most also afraid at Damien. "You're Winter's kid, aren't you?" The President began. "The son of one of the most powerful people in the NCR, and if what the Ranger's are saying is correct, the most feared Ranger in the entire corps." "Yes, now you and me need to have a talk about the Mojave and what the NCR is still doing here." Damien said, pulling out a document and handing over to Kimball. Kimball began to read, and hesitated. "[Redacted] you! This would be signing my own death certificate. You cant surely trust those aliens?" "If you don't sign it, it will be a death certificate. But not your certificate, it would be the death certificate of something greater...." Damien said, ignoring the question aimed at the Glorians. "If you had any common sense, you would know what's at stake." The NCR president paused for a moment, choosing his words carefully and thoroughly reading the document. He had no choice, rejection of the treaty would mean the slaughter of soldiers and another war, and he knew full well what had happened at Camp McCarren. "Alright Winters, you drive a hard bargan. The NCR will remain at peace with Glory, both of our forces can unite to stop the Legion together." "Excellent. It's a pleasure doing business with you, tell father that i said hi." Damien said, as he walked off with the signed document to find John sitting on a hill by himself. Surprised that he is conscious, yet alone walking, he went over to tell him the news
