(That's actually what I had in mind! XD) John looked over to see Damien approaching him, only to see flashbacks of Navarro again, this time of that Ranger who killed his father now approaching him after slaying his father, "How d-did it go?" John asked, suddenly snapping back to reality for a bit, "What did Kimball say?" "You really shouldn't be here..." The Ranger remarked to John as he squatted down to look at the kid trying to scoot away from him "G-go away!" Young John screamed at the Ranger, "Y-you killed my father! W-why?! S-stay away from me!" "your father was a bad man. You...you have a chance at redemption, leave, leave before the others find you." Young John glared angrily at the figure, "J-just because YOU say he's bad doesn't mean he deserves to die!" Then the expression on that Ranger's face suddenly rapidly changed at the thought of that, and John later realized it was the one of realizing that every person he killed, no matter how evil whom they are or whom they serve, they had a family, a life, and every kill he committed destroyed an entire family and their life. But at that moment, that Ranger seemed to simply stand up, and walk away, leaving young John to cower in the ruins of Navarro, where he would hid until the siege finally ended, and he left, eventually finding work at the Mojave Express...
Damien then sat down besides John as the sun began to set at Hoover Dam, creating a hauntingly beautiful reflection among the nearby waters of Lake Meed and the soldiers cheering as the Vertibird soon left . "He accepted, the NCR are now on good terms with the Glorians." Damien simply replied. "Something bugging you?"
John blinked and shook his head, "w-who me? Nah, nothing's bothering me." He lied, looking out to Hoover Dam before looking back at Damien, seeing a scaringly shocking resemblance between him and that Ranger from long ago, "Hey Damien...You wouldn't happen to have a father who was an NCR ranger, would you? Maybe sometime around when the whole Enclave-NCR war was happening...like around the time of Navarro?"
"My father helped build the Republic and basically ensured it's survival in the wastes, and then before that there was the Vault Dweller, but that's another story. Kavain, which was his tribal name, served as a Ranger during the War with the Enclave. He blew up the oil rig that the Enclave had, then came back and helped the NCR fight against the Enclave. I think he was at Navarro, but he never liked talking about it that day. Something must have changed him, because he resigned shortly after became the Mayor in New Arroyo just after his grandmother died." Damien chucked slightly. "He hasn't seen combat in about forty years, but he's still one of the deadliest men alive. His only weapon now is politics."
John looked at Damien with a forlorn look, "You look so much like him..." He muttered before getting up, "Well, come on, we should find somewhere to report this to the Viceroy, if he was right about when the battle's gonna happen, it's only about 5 or so hours away."
(Nah, call the Viceroy on the hologram thingy, as there really isn't time to go all the way back to Westside)
"Let's use that hologram that we received." Damien replied. Within a few moments, the two of them were both talking to the viceroy. "Viceroy, President Kimball has survived his speech and has accepted the terms of peace between the NCR and Glory, awaiting further orders."
The Viceroy's projection nodded, "Very good. As we speak, Legate Lanius is preparing for his attack on Hoover Dam. We have two squads of Elatians on route to your location, one of which you are to lead across the Dam and drive back the Legion and kill Lanius with, the other shall be to help the NCR secure Hoover Dam. As such, your only objective is to get across the Dam as fast as you can and get Legate Lanius so that the final nail in the Legion's coffin may be hammered in. Don't worry about the rest of the Mojave, we'll be deploying troops to inform the NCR of the agreement and help them evacuate the land. I wish you two luck." and then the hologram shut off once more. John then turned to Damien, "You ready to finish this whole mess?" (Fastforward to the battle?)
A large explosion rocked the area as the flak cannon on Hoover Dam exploded and Legion suddenly started pouring out onto the Dam from the intake towers, and ran instantly ran into stiff, unforgiving resistance from NCR Rangers hiding behind rows and rows of sandbags, along with troopers who fired alongside the rangers into the charging Legion, but this would only be able to last so long, John looked back to Damien and the 16 Elatians behind them, "Alright! Let's go!" John yelled as suddenly the 3 Appaliichan helicopters that had dropped off the Elatians flew overhead and began firing upon the helpless Legion, and John began sprinting towards the time, ready his GEAR to fire at the Legion as the Elatians began advancing as well
Damien decided to make this occasion special, taking his best weaponry to deal with the end of the Legion. He used the GEAR-22 rifle to run and gun any form of Legion he came across, and was backed up by two Elatian's spraying thousands of rounds of energy bolts from their Gatling guns to carve a line. Within two minutes, the entire front line of the Legion was completely wiped out. At the Courier's side was a special weapon, a katana he forged himself to fight Lanius with he pulled out of his armor seemingly out of nowhere to use for "a rainy day". The scalbard was black, chipped, army-issue aluminum and a leather grip. The steel itself was bright like silver and folded, but was however not machine shaped with a shallow, tori curvature with a long straight point. Flat, wide ridge lines decorated the blade with several symbols in another language and had an amazing authentic river bordering the edge. Master worksmanship, clearly forged for battle with maximum endurance while still delivering extreme cutting power. But he would have to wait to use the weapon, he still had legion to kill. He was finally going to avenge his deceased wife, and he never felt such satisfaction doing so. (I have a thing for Katana's....)
(So I see) John simply sprinted through the faultering Legion front line and through the checkpoint at the middle of the Dam. With the Elatians closely following, John moved to the Legion side of the Dam, and leads the Elatian squad all the way across and securing a small foothold on the Legion side of the Colorado. Only then did John look back to try to find Damien before moving on the the Legate Camp
Damien catched up to John, and joined in just in time. Thanks to the two couriers making Yes-Man in charge of Vegas and upgrading the securitrons, Damien and his two Elatians soon found themselves with some extra robotic muscle that doomed the chances of Legion success even more. Legionaries everywhere were being Slaughtered in a three-way alliance of NCR, Glorian and Vegas power destroying Legionaries from left to right. Not long later, Damien found himself at the Legate's camp after joining up with John. Just when he ordered the Securitrons to blow down the doors, a Centurion jumped out from behind a rock and tried to plunge his gladius vertically down his skull. The Centurions efforts were for nothing, as Damien took out his sword and decapitated thee Centurion in one swift brutal, yet surprisingly clean strike. He could have just dodged the attack and let the Elatians or the Securitrons finish him off, but he wanted to know that his sword worked. "Glad to see the sword works." Damien said before pointing two joined together fingers to indicate the target as the Securitrons's hatches opened to reveal dozens upon dozens of rockets and the Elatian's at the ready. "Knock it down..."
"Come on, Princess. We're gonna do this our way. Real close to each other and smiling with love." Bolt said, carrying Xeno back to the balcony where a large crowd had assembled. Bolt took her crown before they emerged.
The Elatians and Securitrons quickly knocked down the gate in a hail of firepower and then started flooding into the camp, virtually clearing it in short order for John and Damien. As the two Couriers walked through the camp, John noticed two Rangers running down from a cliff and towards Legate Lanius, only to be quickly and easily sliced down by his massive sword, which was easily twice the length of Damien's katana, and swung it just as quickly and easily. John looked to Damien, "I'll cover you from afar with the GESR, I wouldn't last a second against that tower of a man in close combat. Try talking to him first, make sure that he knows the Legion dies here with him."
Damien had the largest grin on his face, almost like he received Christmas early. "It will be an honor." Lanius seen Damien walking slowly towards him, walking at the same brisk pace while the two of them locked eyes at each other. Damien made it to the bottom of the stairs and stopped while Lanius kept walking towards him. Lanius was enormous, roughly standing easily over 8 feet tall and dressed in fearsome looking armor. He was a towering mass of muscle, with each arm looking like it could double as a tank barrel and held a huge sword with ease. This did not fear Damien, only encouraged him. Lanius towered over Damien, who was roughly 6ft 1 and spoke to the Courier. "The Demon of the West. You do not bear the insignia of the bear, yet you serve the eagle like your own former nation." Lanius began. "The West shall fall like the East has fallen, and all tribes and profligates that stretch to the setting sun shall bear the mark of the Legion." Damien looked at the figure and smiled. "The Legion you serve no longer exists. Glory is now the rightful leaders of the Mojave, Caesar is dead and all of his inner circle, among the countless who have died. The Legion will collapse and die the moment that you fall Lanius. I think it's kind of cute that you still believe that the Legion is still worth something, powerful as it once was. I have spent four years on a crusade to end Caesar and all who serve the Bull, my crusade ends with you." Lanius stood still in silence before replying to Damien. "I have not come here today expecting a victory, i came here today making a final stand so that the Legion can die in glory and not in vain. I came here personally to fight you Demon. We shall see how brave you are when nailed to the walls of Hoover Dam, your body facing west so you may watch your world die." Lanius said, pulling out his huge blade. "The Legion ends here today." Damien said, pulling out his katana before getting into a stance. "My name is Damien Winters, you killed my wife. Prepare to die...." The next moment, both men charged at each other. (I just had to make that last reference to the princess bride )
(>Damien proceeds to get his butt kicked and brought to the brink of death before finally recovering and somehow defeating Lanius, because, ya know, that's what happened in Princess Diaries XD) John chose a great place to snipe from as he saw Damien and the Legate charge at each other with their blades, when John realized something, the Legate had a good 1.5-1.8 meter reach on Damien, and in a sword fight, that only meant one thing, certain doom, no matter how good of sword Damien might have had...
Lanius raised his blade over his head before swiftly bringing it down towards Damien's location, the Courier easily dodging the blade by sidestepping. Within the first second, Damien realized something about his opponent. Lanius seemed to focus on pure brute strength, lacking in speed and protection. While Lanius was stronger, Damien was much faster and agile. Coming around for another swing as Lanius performed a back-swing, narrowly missing Damien by the length of a ruler, Damien tighly grabbed his blade and pierced the brass armor of Lanius by aiming it at the right side of his body. While Lanius tried to cry out in pain, this only seemed to aggravate him more. Turning around and landing a blow to Damien in the face, he took the moment to cut downwards towards Damien while he was confused for a brief moment. Damien dodged the shot again, and landed another strike on the Monster of the East. This continued for another minute or so until Lanius decided that enough was enough and sent out praetorians for him to deal with, keeping him occupied while he healed himself and finished off Damien. Only suffering a few bruises and a large cut on his back where Lanius managed to hit him, Lanius was in an awful shape despite the stimpacks he had been taking having little effect on him. Noticing the praetorian guards, he turned his attention onto them and to deal with them as quickly as he could, getting injured severely in the process. With his back turned, Lanius rushed at Damien attempting to deal with one final strike. Until... Damien knew of his presence and performed a high swipe at Lanius hands, cutting his right one off and stopping his attack. Lanius cried out in pain as the huge sword dropped to the ground as he tried to regain his focus.
John watched through his sniper scope as Damien defied all odds and managed to get the upper hand on his bigger, stronger opponent, and stopped him in his tracks, "Sorry Damien..." John muttered as he slowly breathed out and prepared to squeeze the trigger when he felt a finger tap him on his shoulders, rolling onto his back, he found himself looking up at General Oliver of NCR, scrambling to his feet, John looked curiously at him, "Why are you here? I thought the treaty said you were to take care o-" "The Dam's under our control." he interjecting, "And this "treaty" of yours that you made with Kimball, well, I never got a say in that, and according to NCR law, we are still technically at war." he said bluntly, "I must say, you Gloriians did a really nice job cleaning up the Mojave for us, but it belongs to the NCR now. We didn't, I didn't spend the past 6-7 years defending this place at such a high cost just for lose it to some aliens who showed up with some good weaponry. Oh, and I know about your past, "John", or whatever is your real name. You are a member of the Enclave and now of Glory as far as NCR is concerned, and that means..." Oliver pulled out a pistol and pointed it at his head, "You must die like an enemy." John narrowed his eyes at Oliver, "You sure as hell don't want to do that. Let me ask you, did you order your men across the Mojave to resist the Gloriian attempts to extract them peacefully?" "Ye-" "And have you heard back from them?" "Well...N-" "Exactly. Oliver, think about what you have done. You have cost potentially thousands their lives because of your orders. And if you shoot me here, you can be damned sure Glory will tear that treaty to shreds and attack the NCR in California. Have you seen how much Glory hates the Legion over not being able to meet with Caesar once? What makes you think they'll like you any better if you ignore that treaty?" Oliver swallowed and continued to have the gun leveled at John's head, but John knew he was wavering, "With Glory in command of the Dam and the Mojave, they can build this place up to be even better than it was before the war. And guess what they'll do with their likely surplus of energy and clean water? They'll send that to NCR, as long as the NCR is friendly." John continued, "With Glory in the Mojave, they could wipe out all the remnants of the Legio-" "ENOUGH!" Oliver suddenly yelled and pressed the pistol closer against his head, "Glory may be able to do all they want with the Mojave once the treaty goes through, but you're still considered a member of the Enclave. And that by itself carries a death sentence." Oliver said calmly as he recovered his cool. John chuckled, "I was trained since I was 6 til when I was 15 to take out NCR heads just like you. Sure those Veteran Rangers behind you might give me some trouble, but that's what I have the Elatians for. Now. Put the gun down, and retreat while you still can with whatever is left of the NCR forces in the Mojave." Oliver glared at John angrily, and started slowly squeezing the trigger, then the next thing he knew, he was on the ground, his arm screaming in pain from what was obviously a broken bone, his other arm being held behind him in a very painful manner, and John pointing Lucky straight into the back of his head, and the Veteran Rangers were simply held back by quick thinking Elatians who grabbed them and put them into plastic handcuffs, "Wrong move Oliver." John whispered into his ear before Lucky rang out once more to announce the passing of another leader.
With Lanius holding his right hand to stop the bleeding, Damien sadistically cut the left one off to completely render his attacks useless. Lanius screamed in pain again as he collapsed onto his knees, slowly looking upwards towards the courier. Damien looked at Lanius, ripping the mask of his head to reveal his true face. Like he was told, Lanius was a beast. Despite half of his face being torn off, he assumed that he was once a very attractive person. Lanius true face looked horrifying. The entire right half of his face looked like a skull, with some of the muscles remaining on. His mouth was missing half a lip and was permanently open. Also visible on his face was his cheekbones themselves and the muscle holding his jaws. Only a small part of his nose was damaged, with a large hole on the damaged right side being open. Other then that, he looked like he was a burn victim with ash and dust looking like it was still on his face. But what was the most defining feature on his face was his right eye. His right eye had no eyelid, and the outer edges of his sclera were a permanently blood color, with the remainder of his eye with the exception the isis and the pupul being a light pinkish colour. Damien was not taken back by this, but he smiled at Lanius. "You have clearly underestimated me. You should have been much more then a challenge from what the legends say about you, but no matter." Damien said, pulling out his 45.auto. "With this bullet, the Legion dies. Caesar's legion has given me a purpose to live, to avenge the ones that are lost, to justify my vengeance upon thee. And now, my wife can finally rest in peace. I'll see her again someday." Damien said, overhearing the commotion happening between John and apparently the NCR, deciding to make a last minute control of power. He pointed at them, his smile still evident on his face. "Their lives concern me, yours does not anymore." Damien said, switching to Latin to finish off the second and final Caesar of the Legion. "Lanius legatus Credo hic aguntur negotia nostra. Gratias enim ad minim veniam. Gloria et mihi non molestum vobis "familiae" de misfits amplius. (Legate Lanius, I do believe our business here is done. I thank you for your time. Me and Glory shan't be bothering your "family" of misfits any longer.) Damien then aimed the pistol at Lanius’s temple, and could tell that the Legate was ready to accept his fate, his eye closed. “Ita legatus Lanius, ego valeant ad vos, et dixerit: ave!” (So, Legate Lanius, I bid farewell to you and say, adieu!) And with that, all the power that the Legion held died with a single bullet. Once done, Damien lit a matchstick and threw it over his body as he watched the body burn. He walked away from the burning corpse, his crusade was over.
