(I usually like to make my own characters, so I'll play as some random commando, because whenever I play as another 'established' character, I fear that I could get the role wrong. But when I make the character up, I don't get this. Also, I should wait until the Commandos are established to introduce him. So yep, currently nameless commando. Here we go! ♫Ya ya ya ya ya!♫ *Crazy Taxi guitar riff*)
(Here I go...) Diamond Steel rested as he sat upon a rock, brushing the blood of a combat knife from a fallen raider. Dozens of raiders were scattered around him, all of them killed through the use of a knife. Diamond was an imposing figure, a stallion standing a head taller than most other ponies. Wild white shaggy hair and a small goatee was a important aspect of him, but what made him stand out was several scars across his face from a lifetime of fighting. He was surprisingly young despite his battle-torn appearance, only in his late 30's. He grunted as he looked about the mess he made before returning to clean his knife. His light grey colored reinforced combat armor not only provided the protection he needed, but served as a warning to anypony wishing to attack him just because of his "reputation" It was strange. He had fought countless times, and he seemed to destroy anything that came across him. Raiders and Slavers were ripped apart, hell hounds wishing to end him never standing a chance, assassins thrown into the wind. Even Steel Rangers fell before him. Whatever was sent to kill him never stood a chance. Despite being a killer, he was a good pony, looking after others if he needed to, often acting as a father figure to many, especially to children. He got straight back up, as he sighed before turning around and heading down a dusty dirt path.
Julion stumbled out of the cave through another large steel door. He found himself in a dimly lot room with shapes lining the walls. He stood there, adjusting to the light. his eyes slowly revealed that the shapes were in fact an armory. Weapons, armor, and more, enough to equip a small army, "Wait...A small...Commandos." He said thinking aloud, "Hm." He brought up his Pipbuck and tagged the location, it had given him an idea. He would try to remake his family's former army. He would win influence and remake the Commandos, yes, THIS was his destiny, he could feel it in his blood. He smiled as he re-equipped himself, out with the Vault suit, in with heavy Commando armor. As he was about to leave, he noticed a rifle in a protected case almost calling out to him. Stepping over to it, he say the elegant, gilded name "Silent Death" engraved upon its hilt. Knowing he had to have it, he went over the nearby terminal, hoping it would unlock the case, luckily, it did. With a smirk, he grabbed the rifle and turned toward the stairs leading up, guessing they led up and out. ****** The ruins of Ponyville surrounded Julion, empty and abandoned, showing signs of not having been occupied in decades, surprising considering the "good" shape of the buildings inside, must be some sort of taboo about the place out here. Julion was not surprised at the shattered world, he had expected it, he had expected the ruined landscape and the closed up cloud cover, it only made sense for a post-apotyliptic Equestria. Here would be a good first Base of Operations,.. He trotted through the town, which soon showed itself not be so abandoned. Julion pushed upon the door to a house where he saw a silvery pegasus staring into a small fire. The two noticed each other, and in an instant were up and pointing their weapons at each other, the mare showing surprising skill with holding weapons in her wings. She was obviously holding some advanced plasma weapon compared to his advanced energy weapon. "you aren't a slaver...definitely not a raider..." She observed of him, "...You're too fresh for even the Wasteland, you have to be fresh from a Vault." "very smart of you. But that doesn't mean I'm any less ready to kill when needed." Julion responded "Hm...I think I believe you. And since you haven't shot me already I guess that means you don't want to rob me..." "Same with you." "Alright, I could use some company, wanna join me?" "Couldn't hurt. Name's Julion Light." "strange name you've got. Mine's Silver Breeze."
Diamond wandered across the long dirt path that took him seemingly anywhere yet nowhere at all. Ponyville was roughly two days away, and the closest settlement from his location was several hours away by hoof. All he had to do was make it to the settlement without any problems, not that he didn't mind having a problem to deal with, and rest for the night. Lucky for him, he knew somebody in the town where he could spend the night, so he did not have to sleep under the open sky.
Silver and Julion talked for quite awhile, learning more about each other and unwittingly establishing the basis of an extremely close friendship that would last for years. Silver told Julion how she had been originally Enclave and simply just slipped off one night after a below the clouds patrol. They had no idea where she had even gone, much less that they knew that she had bucked them. And not like it mattered to them, she was just recently a sergeant. In exchange, Julion told Silver how, in the Stable, he was the therapist due to his special talent of being able to crack into ponies' minds, much easier process than hypnosis, also because of his talent, he was employed occasionally as an interrogater, extracting the truth straight from the minds of ponies accused of the few crimes committed in the Stable. He also told her how he privately trained himself in military tactics and physique from skills and reasources passed down from generation to generation in his family. Finally, Julion felt comfortable telling Silver about his plans, and hoped she would become his first Commando, after explaining the Commandos in a non-chalent way as a bit of backstory, he dropped the bomb, "Look, Silver, I intend to remake my family's Commando army. A...A mercenary army that can be hired for any job that doesn't hurt innocents, as a sort of moral mercenary army. But the first and foremost mission, to collect, restore, and use the highly advanced tech my great-great-great-great-great grandaunt, Snow Mark, developed under Mark Co. Once we get to a good size, we'll carve out our own new territory, and of course we might need to be a little aggressive here and there for some extra money. But here's my question; Would you like to be my first Commando as my second in command?" Silver narrowed her eyes slightly before saying, "You're ambitious, and ambition out here leads to one of two things, death, or getting exactly what you want. As long as you got the plan, sure, why the hell not? I've got nothing better." Julion grinned, "Good! Now, follow me, lets get you suited out, then we can start more rigorous recruiting!"
Diamond made it to the town without any problems near nightfall. Ponies in the area understood who he was, and that he was know to be a good pony that seems to be a magnet for the wrong sorts of trouble. He found himself nearby a barn, asking the owner to rest the night inside, and spent the rest of the night there sleeping underneath makeshift bed of hay. The next morning, he headed out again into the wastes. Hoping to protect the weak, while also taking down anything in his way.
Julion and Silver trotted towards the nearby town of The Republic, where they hoped at least some ponies would be impressed by them and join their fledging group . Silver was equipped with Mobile Commando armor, heavily protective armor that was far lighter than Enclave armor thanks to it being made out of titanium instead of steel(Mark Co loved titanium). Julion had Silent Death, Head Hunter, and 4 energy grenades for weaponry while Silver had an energy battle saddle built into her armor along with her plasma rifle, an energy pistol, and 4 energy grenades. Silver would fly ahead, cloaked by the Mobile armor's stealth capabilities, report to Julion what was ahead through comm unit, and then fly back if something was sighted. She eventually did fly back and landed next Julion, "Stallion headed out way, appears armed with knives, fairly sizable." She told him, "What do you suggest?" "Armed with knives? Then we continue as is and keep him at a distance so we have the advantage, our weapons will punch through any armor he has." "sounds like a plan."
Diamond wandered down the path until he suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up, something felt wrong. He just stood there, looking into the horizon until he seen a glimmer of red. The moment that happened, he moved his neck slightly to the right as a red line of laser fire sped straight past his head. Out of pure instinct, he took out a small rectangular thing from his back that almost instantaneously turned itself into a anti-material rifle. Placing a magazine into the rifle within the time span of a second, he returned fire at the attackers, running towards them at breakneck speeds while keeping coverfire for himself. A few seconds later, Diamond was inches away from a group of slavers.
(Ah oki, the "flash of blue" made it sound like he was being fired at by Julion, as Mark Co energy rifle's fire blue bolts. Also, please don't be too...superpowered with him, the whole thing about the Commandos is that they're normal ponies turned into super deadly killers due to intense training. Or the thing with the super collapsible anti-material rifle...) Julion and Silver spotted from a hill a pony engaging a small group of 10 slavers, "That's the stallion I told you about. And it is strange...just a couple years ago, slavers hardly existed, making very megar income...in the last five years their numbers have doubled and their equipment is getting better, meaning better revenue..." Silver muttered "Supply and demand." Julion replied simply, "obviously something is increasing the demand for slaves, which in turn makes the price of a slave go up, meaning it becomes more lucrative to get more slaves, thus able to earn more money and get better equipment, which encourages them to enslave more and attract more ponies to try their hoof at slaving. Something must be increasing the demand, and keeping up that demand, and somehow able to afford that demand, simple economics." Silver stared at Julion's quick and calm conclusion that really seemed to be the only logical answer before shaking her head, "So shall we help that pony?" She asked "way ahead of you." Julion replie, Silent Death's scope already up to his visor. Using his built in SATS, he quickly fired off a volley of shots, most of them missing their intended target due to the distance, but the deadly nature of pulse energy lead to five of the slavers who took shots in various parts of their body were left either dead, convulsing on the ground, or with newly paralyzed limbs.
(I was going to start a battle between Diamond and Julion/Silver, but I was out at the time elsewhere, so I wasn't paying attention to what I was writing exactly due to being pre-occupied, plus I wanted to start the introduction differently after I posted it. Don't worry, Diamond is nowhere near Crim tier, he's just gone through intense training, but not as intense as Julion's. I tend to notice that I make my characters seem stronger than what they usually are, hence me loving to play as "Super heroes". I tend to do it not very often, the only time I really do it is through Crimson and the Eternals or if it's a fantasy RP. Also, the collapsible anti-material rifle is not 'that' collapsible, it's about the size of a battle saddle when fully collapsed, and the collapsible part is only the barrel. Damn, forgot to add those details in.) Diamond looked at the Slavers, or what was left of them as five suddenly dropped to the ground by blue bolts of energy in the distance. Diamond did not pay attention to his environment, seeing how he was going to end the battle quickly before wandering about the outside assistance. He took his rifle and fired a round directly between the eyes of a slaver, causing his head to vanish in a mess while also managing to hit another slaver who jumped into the air to throw a grenade at unfortunate timing, the power of the rifle causing the bullet to go straight through her torso, dropping her dead. Diamond then decided that bullets were worthless against these slavers, holstering his rifle before taking out a knife and charging his confused enemies. Not long later, they were all dead. Diamond suffered some injuries, but nothing that needed medical attention. He looked around at the other ponies nearby in black armor, smiling slightly before heading over to them to express his thanks.
(What just happened? O-o) Julion and Silver trotted up to the stallion, Julion speaking up first as he retracted the visor so that Diamond could see his face, "That was a very impressive display of strength, I must say." Julion spoke with a small grin, "Name's Julion, and this is my comrade, Silver. We are traveling the Wasteland, searching for ponies willing to join us. You see, we're starting a new Mercenary army, one that would rival the Talons, but one guided by morals, not by caps. However..." Julion looked at the slaver that had the weapon that fired the blue bolt and wrapped his magic around it, hovering it over to Diamond to see the logo enscribed on the bottom of the hilt, the distinctive logo of Mark Co, "We have another, far more important mission, the recovery of Mark Co technology to help increase our power and maybe eventually move beyond a mercenary army into a fully fledged nation. Our name, well, it's none other than the name of the corp founded by my ancestor Dark Light, the Commandos, the most elite force in all of Equestria." Julion floated the weapon into his saddlebag before extending a hoof to Diamond, "What say you? Interested?"
Diamond accepted the hoofshake. "I accept, always happy to make a difference in the wastes. It seems like you're on the right path with your goals, and I respect that. Now, a highly advanced and highly trained Mercenary Army with morals and standards while also acting with a Steel Ranger vibe about securing technology, Mark Co tech, from Equestria's enemies. You've got a better idea of an organization in a short time than the most intelligent raider in five years."
