(Back from my vacation ^^ funny enough it was to Galveston Island, and that made me realize the bridge isn't in Houston, it's further away with only about a mile long bridge connecting it to the mainland, but the distance to the shore can be as much as 5 miles because of the large bay behind the island.)

(Welcome back. What do ya know, same place as in the RP. That's kinda fascinating actually in a way. Also, just for a heads up, I'm going to be doing work experience from Thursday and Friday this week and the entirety of next week, meaning that I won't be able to post when we're both on at the same time. 9 to 5.30 basically. Other than that, I'm still available for a little bit.)

Major James Himenburg, the man in charge of the defense of Galveston, got right to work after the nearly completely failed attempt at blowing the bridge. Sending engineers out, they changed the charges to radio detention and began blowing the bridge up one section at a time until they reached the high point of the arch up of the bridge (which was originally meant so that ships could pass under), then they set up sniper positions. He also began the building of a line of fortifications across the bay-facing side of Galveston Island, surrounding the entire island within days with a thick sandbag wall (other than where the sea wall was) and a series of trenches and temporary fortifications. Along with this, they made several lines of defense, each one getting progressively better as they took more time on it as they waited for the Legion assault. Finally, all artillery was placed on artificial highpoints at the center of the lines of defense.

The Legion, back on the mainland, was preparing for a serious assault while also reinforcing their hold back in the city. With the bridge now blown, making their way across the island without casualties was now impossible. Marius, who had finally been promoted to Centurion, took command of his own squad as the Legion. With the Legion far outnumbering the Republic and being more experienced, an attack was still several days away.

Using five different artillery guns that had been transported back from Arizona, the artillery was placed in strategic positions that all seemed to point to the heaviest point of enemy fortifications. Snipers had been set up and the frumentarii was gathering intelligence on the island, showing one weak point of their defenses which the Legion was going to exploit before the Republic had a chance to reinforce it.

(Oh, by the way, overmare.com It's the FoE game dev teams page :3 Apparently when it's released, it'll be free! and by the way, here's a map outlining Galveston's defense lines. (The reason why the airport is one of the final stand places is that I'm going off the consideration that most airports were fortified to some degree pre-War) http://i.imgur.com/DnRzrJi.jpg and obviously there's the very front line along the coast I left out))

After two weeks of preparation, the defenders were ready. They had dug in protection against artillery (lessons learned from Houston) and had orders to delay the enemy as much as possible before retreating to the next line when in danger of being overrun. They also had positions set up to cover the bay with crossfire to hit any and all rafts and barges coming across as anything used to cross would be quickly put together, manual powered, and easy to sink. But once on the island, they had to keep the Legion at bay to remove engagement. They weren't hoping for a true victory, but to bloody the Legion enough to concentrate elsewhere besides the Island, and if the Legion refused to do that, they had made sure it would be as bloody and drawn out as possible, no single day overrunning this time.

(Nice. To bad that I would never play it until I actually build myself a computer after school, my laptop isn't powerful enough to play new games, but can play games from about ten years ago perfectly.)

The Legion was aiming to focus upon three key points upon attacking Galveston Island. The first being to distract their enemy from the partially bridge by taking opportunities to mount some level of attack, despite the chances of being repelled the entire time. The second was to attack from the north from Pelican Island and The Lagoon that would lead closely to the center of Galveston. Finally, the last of these attacks was to be from the most southern area of the island nearby Red Fish Cove, where the Legion would take down as many defensive fortifications as possible in the area and quickly cover as much ground as possible.

The Legion was now taking this campaign seriously, as an entire Legio of some of the Legion's elite was sent down to Houston, some of whom that served fought in the Mojave. In terms of experience, the Legion completely overwhelmed the Republic's military. Losses were expected, and the fighting is to be brutal, but a victory on the island would solidify a Legion hold in the entirety of Southern Texas, and gave the Legion the chance to have another possible attack route to Dallas from the south on an already damaged Republic. Simply put, if the Legion had won this battle, a Legion victory had the potential to be a war winning move.

(Well, I doubt it would be that important as the group on Galveston does not want to counterattack as it would be suicidal)

The defenders waited until the next morning when they were treated to the first wave of attack, a feint flank attack on Pelican island. But they were ready, the defenders of both Pelican Island and on the position on the bridge opened up with their interlocking feilds of fire, massacring in short order the five boats attempting the crossing as they were unable to return fire. They knew it was likely a simple feeler, but they were determined to make sure to give the Legion as much hell as possible whenever they showed themselves. Those in sniper positions then turned their sights on the shore, ready to extend the battlefield across the entire Bay when the Legion started to get in their assault boats

While it was a feeler attack, it gave the Legion the opportunity to prepare themselves for what they were up against and prepared accordingly. Assault boats, made up from luxurious pre-war boats were converted into heavily armed machines, it's armor being reinforced from metallic scrap with the inclusion of machine gun turrets. It only existed to serve as a decoy, fighting against the Republic for long enough while Marius and the Legion's finest would storm the southern point of Galveston with it's heaviest point of concentrated military action being in that area.

Five hours after the failed assault on Pelican Island, the Legion began to shell the dense fortifications while Marius prepared himself

(uhm...I doubt the Legion could turn 200 year old ships that are likely extremely rusted out into usuable craft in only a couple weeks...)(

(Sorry, I'll make it so that they used the scrap pieces to turn them into assault boats.)

Marius had gathered the hundred best Legionaries available to him, most of whom were veterans of the Mojave. All of them stood in a line in formation, plenty of them were heavily armed with the strongest of the groups using mini-guns and even a fat-man. Marius himself, now in Centurion armor while wearing a black face-wrap stood before the proud group of Legionaries. They were going to attack from the south while the Legion shelled the living hell out of the northern fortifications to distract them. During the night, a few of them under the command of another Centurion would storm across the Bluewater Highway from the southern side of the island while Marius and his best Contubernia would quietly sneak behind their lines by swimming the short straight and attack from the rear, the reason doing this was being the fear of the bridge being rigged to blow. Marius stood up straight as he began to speak loudly to his men.

"Men of the Legion. Mars has given us the mission, the most sacred of missions, to take Galveston Island from the Republic. We have experienced defeat first hand by the NCR in California and of the loss of the dam. We have sworn our lives to never allow a disgrace embarrass the legion again. The Republic has built far less fortifications on this side of the island, but do not think that they are not well protected. Men and Women of Texas are just like the profligates, and you shall treat them as so. Men of the Legion, what is your response?"

The Legionary soldiers yelled in unison that shook the ground and made echos across the water.

"Augustus shall be smiling upon a victory here today. We shall not fail him, nor shall we ever fail the Legion. Men of the Legion, WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE ?"

The Legionary soldiers yelled again in Unison much louder than before, but yelled three times instead of one before mobilizing together, with recruit Legionaries manning the artillery guns that were pointed at the densely populated northern area of the island to distract their foe, and to smash on all fortifications in the south. The plan was to send in the recruits to cover as much ground as possible before the veterans moved in.

Marius looked outwards to the island and had a sly smile on his face. "Once we arrive on the island, leave nothing alive."

(Ah LOCP...I remember that, I think I was in it. Unfortunately, I won't have time to make a character and join right in unless I could find a way later into the RP. Anyway, this is my idea for another RP. I was thinking of another Fallout RP, except that it's pre-war and set around the Resource Wars or even earlier to the Great War. I have the perfect characterfor this as well and it would help with my own fanon. Interested?)

(You got the two mixed up, Resources War was first, Great War lasted 2 hours because it was the nuclear exchange xD anywayd, what part did you have in mind? Like the Chinese overrunning of Alaska, the reclaiming of Anchorage, the fight on the Mainland of China, etc?)

(I was sort of thinking of all three to be in depth, but I've been creating events based from 2020 onwards that would be sort of lore friendly as well, which involves something like the Second Mexican-American War in 2051, which would then follow onwards to the Resource Wars in April 2052 (Europe deserves a good mention in this), the Sino-American War in 2066 and eventually the Great War on October 23rd 2077 (Easy to remember because it's my brothers birthday). According to the wiki, Mexico was never annexed as Canada was, the US, seeking to protect business interests and their oil supply, put a lot of pressure on Mexico in 2051 and finally invaded it, though it is unknown whether total annexation had occurred. The fact that Mexico City had the earthquake in 2042 could also be interesting (In which that the earthquake (Somewhere around 9.5-10 on the Richter scale) would have almost obliterated the city and it's rebuilding efforts I like to think that it was total for lore reasons and could be an interesting to explore. Other than that, the majority of the RP i'm thinking of would be in China.)
