So... Discord!

1st reaction: "WTH is that?!"
After I watched the clip a few times, I realize that Discord could be a fun villain. Could be like Joker/Riddler kind of villain.

 

Now If I ever sa one ah DEM cockathingies, I'd laugh at how silly it was!

My reaction to first seeing Discord went like this:

At first I was like: Oh lawd...

Bu then I was like (As a listened to his voice for a bit): This guy is going to be the BEST VILLAIN EVER!

Which makes me hope he dosne't get the Nightmare Moon treatment and get's defeated in the secon part. This guy is fun enough that I want to see what the writers can do with him throughout the entire season! Like maybe, every so often there's an episode where he messes with one of the mane six for an episode?

This guy is definitely my favorite non-pony character already, and the season hasn't even started yet!
Which makes me wonder if there will be any times where I actually root for Discord to succeed in his plans?

This next point was actually mentioned by someone on Ponychan but can anyone picture Discord doing Like Pinkie Pie an trying to break the fourth wall as well?

I still don't know how I would feel about this, but what does everyone else think about it? Do you think they could pull it off with someone like Discord? or should the forth-wall breaking be left to just Pinkie Pie?

Edit: Maybe we could all star saying something like "Why is your heart filled with Discord, man?" to the haters from now on?

 

Im dissaponted just because I thought they gonna make Discord has a Evil Pony, like Nightmare Moon, because, well the ponys are Great!, and now that I see how he looks...........well, is looks like funny villain yeah, but its........strange to me, I never imagined they gonna make a villain maded of the differents body parts of the mytologit creatures!!, but when I realize how he looks, actually now I think he looks good, just his personality ( that looks like a little fool villain that just want to play games XD) still dissapoint me, just a little XD

 

I remember that, one day before I first saw a pic of Discord, I thought that he should so have a Goatee of Evil. And lo and behold, he's got a whole GoatHEAD of Evil. I'm delighted!

 

Don't know if anyone has picked up on this, but in the clip, Discord actually makes a couple shout-outs to a few episodes in season 1.

These were the quotes Discord used. See if you can figure out what episodes they're a reference to:

1.) "You should've seen the looks on your faces!"
2.) *Discord nudges Applejack, and says about RD*: "You know using her wings is cheating!"

I might be paraphrasing the last one, I don't know, but you should get the idea.

 

Given his appearance and the significance of the term discord, I think it is a very appropriate choice for a name. His body does not appear to be in any kind of harmony other than it is all sticking together with some kind of patchwork magic. The title for this upcoming episode is apparently "the return of harmony" and with Discord being the opposite of harmony, it all makes sense in context and tells us what we can expect for the story.

I don't think I call anti-bronies by any term, although 'parasprites' doesn't seem to make much sense. Parasprites multiply and then wreak havoc on the environment or inhabitance of others - a pest that snowballs into a larger threat if left unchecked. Those who oppose ponies do not seem to follow a similar pattern and aren't as fearsome, but "Discord" sounds a bit silly as a plural noun.

I can't think of any other suggestions for an alternate term, however.

From the looks of things, Discord is shaping up to be a fresh and interesting character...that the writers will forget about once the two-parter is over. A proper villain for once should change it up - Luna, Trixie, and several other lesser antagonists were petty or were able to be dealt with a simple change of heart or mind.

To begin working on something involving discord, I would think a reference picture would be required - several if necessary. I think the best way to approach it would be to make each individual piece on him as a seperate item and then slap the whole thing together ala Frankenstein's monster.

 

You know, there are a good deal of people who'd take offense to that- not just people who would find sexual stereotyping strongly distasteful, but also to many who live in or hail from the areas where the visualization come from.

Be more careful with what you say. This REALLY isn't the place to spark up negative emotions.

 

I was expecting Discord to be a pony like I'm pretty sure many other people were... so I was pretty surprised by the clip.

However I can't say much more about the clip until the season starts, and by then it will be kind of pointless. But the thought in my head is now way too annoying, so seeing the clip only made me think "Discord = significant male character = reference to bronies = season 2 will fail."

I don't believe any of that, so don't think I do... It's that stupid thought in the back of my head.

 

I think that the beginning episodes for Season 2 will be really interesting, even if Discord wasn't nearly as cool as I thought he'd be.

 

Discord certainly doesn't look cool, admittedly...
Now I'm hoping for him to be completely crazy, to make up for it.
And, also.... he should be sinister! He just would be good at disguising it with his... personality.
But yes, the starting episodes should be very intresting even if he's nothing like I said

 

Right now, he doesn't look very "evil".

I'm hoping he does something really bad so I can dislike him and not be upset that he'll end up going away for x number of years like he apparently was before.

 

Guys, this is a kids show. We shouldn't automatically assume that they will cater to us; the show is still targeted for young girls.
They aren't going to have him burn a city down, not in front of kids anyways...

anyway, well, as I see Discord is like some kind of prankster with too much power. "Evil", but in hearth not really evil, just likes to have fun bit too much.
Also I don't think he'll do anything that would (physically) hurt anyone.
I personally liked what I saw, and I see him as comedy villain as Vector in Despicable Me.

Also, I think he might have had some major role in history of Equestria and some relation with Celestia and Luna (that screenshots seem like to have Discord on windows). So yeah, I personally like him, and am now even more enthusiastic about season 2.

 

I never asked for him to destroy a city or anything. However, it would be nice if he would have a bit more of an evil-aggressive disposition. It's not like it would give little girls everywhere massive amounts of heart attacks and epilepsy.

It doesn't make much sense to make a villain that you're going to be getting rid of, one way or another (most likely), very likable or excessively fun.

 

Well as a Trek fan knowing who voices him is a big bonus, and I do like how the character looks as he looks rather unique

 

Discord was a bit of dissapointment since equestria daily posted the picture of bad*** alicorn with spikey armour and all -pouts-

Maybe. It would have been possible to connect Discord and NMM that way adding a tad more depth to the plot by connecting everything.

I do have to say though, aside from my initial disappointment, I am rather pleased. He feels slightly reminiscent of Him from PPG. I'd even go as far to compare him to The Joker on a more kid friendly level.
