She bit her lip, giving him a small grin before she returned to her newspaper.

As Gabe entered the house, Leifson looked up from his work.

"Gabe! Can I talk to you?"

 

He gestured to him before heading for his office.

 

He sat at his desk and turned to him.

“What have you learned about the defenses of Petra Apte?”

 

“Well, I assigned her assassination to Jared after you failed, but he was having a little difficulty tracking her last time I checked.”

 

He blinked, glancing over his shoulder.

“Gabe, have you gone soft? She’s a target.”

 

He turned to look at him, a frown on his face.

“Gabe, she has caused nothing but trouble for us and she continues to steal our assignments. She has to be dealt with. Is this going to be a problem?”

 

“She is a target to the rest of the guild. You’re either with us or against us.”
