She pursed her lips, rubbing his back slowly. "I think Gabe and I are supposed to hang out tomorrow," she said slowly. "It's been a while."
She shrugged casually, not noticing his hesitance. "I'm not sure," she said. "I think we were gonna grab coffee or something."
"Yeah. I haven't talked to him in a while face-to-face. I miss him. You gotta be safe, though, okay? Please."
Her voice sounded oddly strangled and falsely cheery. “Hey, Gabe. I’m sorry this is such short notice, but I don’t think I’ll be able to hang out tonight.”
