She sighed, looking up at him affectionately with a head shake before standing up. "Pancakes are ready."
She watched it with a grin, her eyes wide. "That's so cool," she said appreciatively. "You gotta show me how it works one of these days."
There came a lovely smell of pancakes from the plates and she passed him his. "Syrup and butter are on the table."
"Yep," she said, coming over with a plate in her hand, sitting down across from him with her newspaper in her hand. "I thought I smelled something burning."
