She exhaled slowly before turning on her heel, coming over and laying her palms flat on the table. "Are you going to try to follow me home?"
He looked up, rather surprised. His eyes wide. He was quiet for a moment. "I didn't expect you to visit places like this."
She studied him with pursed lips, her brows furrowed. Finally, she sighed, shaking her head before glancing around. “It’s quiet here most nights. It’s a nice place to get work done.”
"Yeah. My first impression of you was wearing a fancy dress and then saying 'ta' before you jumped out of a window. Seriously, who even says ta?"
She laughed, sitting down at the table. Her laugh was low and warm, and it shook her shoulders. “I do when I’m looking like a badass. Besides, you saw the state of my car. What kind of fancy person has three empty boxes of Sprite in her trunk?”
She blinked in surprise, tilting her head. Black locks of hair had gotten free of her hair tie and she pushed them back in frustration. “What kind of person doesn’t check the trunk of the person they’re trying to kill? That’s just reckless.”
"Should I have expected a bomb?" he asked. "I mean, all you had was three empty cases of sprite, so.."
“But I could have had a bomb. Besides, it wasn’t just the Sprite. Now, however, you’ll never know what was in there. You’ll die from not knowing.”
She rested her head on her hand, her eyes keen as she studied him. "So, if you're not here to kill me, what are you here for?"
"You had a bunch of people over here, though," she said. "An assassin generally has to stay reclusive, right?"
