"He's kinda cute," she said casually, looking over at Gabe.

 

She laughed easily, ducking her head.

"He's a surfer? What are you, then?"

 

"Oh, c'mon, Gabe," she said, throwing an arm over his shoulder cheerfully. "You're not no one."

 

"Don't say that."

 

“Hush. Where do you want to eat?”

 

“Which one? Is it any good?”

 

“Let’s go there,” she said conversationally.

 

She followed before speaking up.

“So, how’d you end up in that building? College roommates situation?”

 

“Where’d you go to school?”

 

She tilted her head as they approached the diner.

“Really? Why?”
