"Shush. Let me pay. Fries and a burger?"

 

"C'mon, Gabe. Let me."

 

She squinted at him, raising one eyebrow.

 

She crossed her arms.

 

She paused before her eyes widened. She gestured between the two of them.

"You... I mean, you don't see this as a... you know, like a date, do you?"

 

She looked relieved, shaking her head.

"No. No, no, no. Not at all. But that means you don't have to pay for me."

 

She sighed, eyeing him skeptically.

"Fine."

 

"But I get the next one."

 

She squinted at him.

"Fine."

 

She entered with a nod of thanks.
