She took the cube with a small frown, seeming reluctant to use it. She did, though, tapping it twice with her pinky.
She would instantly feel relieved as the weight lifted off her chest, floating slightly above the ground.
Puck spoke up. “Let me take her.” Ben fell silent, looking over at Calliope, clearly not wanting to make her more upset.
She looked thoughtful before turning to Ben. "Maybe you can go to the library and find a cool book and meet me back at my room?" she asked fondly. It was clear she wanted to spend time with him, but she would also like to allow Puck to help her for a moment.
He looked relieved by this and kissed her forehead. "Okay. I'll be there in a minute." Puck came forward and took her arms, his hands gentle.
She frowned as well, glancing over at him. She squeezed his arm with a small sigh. "Yeah.. I think I do."
"I love you in a way that's different from him," she confirmed. "I love him like a partner and you like a friend."
His face hardened and he frowned, avoiding her gaze. There was a silence before he spoke. “Why wasn’t I enough, Calliope?”
"I'm not sure what to say, Puck.. I didn't know you felt anything until I already had feelings for him. He wanted me to improve and be less afraid and worked to help that.."
“But I’ve always been here,” he replied, looking up at her. “I’ve always been here. I just figured that I shouldn’t try to force it, you know?”
