Her gaze was soft as she watched him and her brows slightly furrowed. "How long did you like me for..?"
He spoke up again after a moment. "If I had made a move... I don't know. A day sooner. What would you have done?"
She hesitated, looking unsure. "Honestly..? I'm not sure... If you asked me on a date I probably would have agreed."
She looked a little nervous, but figured it was good to get everything out in the open. "A little bit, yeah."
His face fell and he turned to her, his brow furrowed. They were standing in front of her room. “Really?”
He reached up, cupping her jaw with one hand gently. "It... stings more than anything," he murmured, watching her. "It stings to know that we could've been something."
His eyes didn't leave hers, his expression upset. There was a silence before he leaned in and gave her a shockingly soft kiss, his nose brushing hers. He pulled away, watching her. "That's it," he said. "That's all I need. Okay?"
Her eyes were wide and she looked stricken. She stammered, her words quiet and panicked. "I-I.. I'm going to go into my room. H-have a goodnight."
"I'm going to go in my room and wait for Ben," she said, turning and opening the door with almost robotic movement. "It's okay. I'm sorry. Goodnight."
"Calliope, wait," he protested, his hand on the door. "I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything by it. It won't happen again, I promise."
