He came over to the bed, sitting on the edge as he reached out, running his fingers through her hair gently. "You need rest, Calliope."
"I don't want to rest," she said quietly, closing her eyes under his touch. "I want to just be here with you."
He frowned before lying out next to her. "The Council is still talking. They're apparently deep in debate."
He wasn't meeting her gaze, looking up at the ceiling. "We didn't come here asking for help. We came to administer aid if they needed it."
He sighed a little, frowning deeply. "I don't know. Edgar is still out there. Hopefully, the Fae will pledge their allegiance to us."
He frowned, looking over at her for a moment before looking back up at the ceiling, his brows furrowed.
She didn't move any closer or say anything else. She just wanted to be close as she slept. She looked anxious, even as she slowly fell asleep.
A few hours later, she would wake. Ben was asleep next to her. He had turned to her in his sleep, his hand resting on her waist as he had pulled her closer.
She watched him sleepily, observing his features gently before she hugged him lightly, trying not to wake him.
He didn't wake, her hand slipping down to her thigh. His head lolled forward, and he pulled her closer, moving her leg onto his hip.
