He burst into low laughter, slipping his arms around her waist and kissing her temple. “Gods, I love you.”
She seemed delighted that he enjoyed it and laughed as well, kissing the corner of his mouth. "I love you too."
He pulled away a little, tensing as she kissed his mouth. The moment passed quickly and he stood up, taking her hand. “Come on. The library awaits.”
He looked back at her, clearly noticing her mood shift but saying nothing about it. “Good. We’re going to learn how to do this.”
"Yeah," she said, trying to keep a positive tone. The way her hand gripped his was different, though. It felt.. scared. Unsure.
They entered the library and he let go of her hand, heading down an aisle to relocate the books he had found the previous day.
He returned less than a minute later, holding a stack of books and looking excited. “Okay. Research time.”
She looked over at him and brightened upon seeing his excited expression. A small grin crossed her face as she joined him. "Ready."
He set the books on the table and began to flip through the pages quickly, scanning the chapter titles at breakneck speed.
