She laughed, kissing his cheek. "I'm gonna go put this book back." She started off to the shelves, her gaze looking around curiously.
He looked down at his books before beginning to gather them up. As she walked down the aisle, her vision would begin to go a little fuzzy.
It didn’t work and the fuzziness grew more persistent, blocking her vision. She would hear a voice in her head. “calliope. pay attention.”
“The Ortus is in danger,” the voice whispered. “The Ortus is in danger, but it will not be saved without tragedy. The Ortus is in danger. Return to the Ortus. The Ortus is in danger.”
"It- The Ortus! Something is wrong," she said urgently, dashing past him. "We have to go to the Ortus!"
"There was this voice!" she exclaimed, her hands on her head. "It was telling me the Ortus is in danger! To return to the Ortus." She faltered. "That it won't be saved without tragedy."
"I didn't recognize it," she said, still seeming distressed. "It was.. whispery.. Mechanical almost. It sounded like there was a lot of them."
