"Because I get the distinct feeling that if I go first, you won't go after me," he replied with a small smirk, crossing his arms. "C'mon, Cal, be brave."
She seemed reluctant, looking over at the railing as she approached with a nervous frown. "How do I do it?"
"You sit on it and lie back and just... slide," he said with a shrug. "Have you never done this before?"
"Then we'll confront your fears," he said easily, coming to stand next to her. "Go ahead and get on."
"Never," he replied smoothly, reaching over and putting his hands on her shoulders and giving her a small push.
The spiral staircase quickly took her out of view, sliding her down in circles that sped up as she went down.
She bit her tongue, feeling a bit of panic as she realized how quick she was going, otherwise it was rather exciting.
The air whooshed over her as she descended towards the cellar. Finally, though, the railing ended and she fell forward, stumbling a little but managing to catch herself. In front of her was a large wooden door.
The air was cold down here. After a few minutes, Ben walked down the last stairs. "You didn't hit the wall!"
