Not everyone is gonna be happy. If that is what you guys want to happen you'll go crazy trying.

    EDIT:

On the topic of mature. Me and Sparky had a little fight in the religion thread, we worked it out and still it got closed for "insults". There was no insults between us. If that is to far, there is no hope for a mature discussion.

A tiny update for you guys.

After much discussion, some of the staff have changed their minds about this, and here is why.

By using Staff Advisors (Users appointed by the Staff to spread information), we are giving them information that can be misinterpreted and demonized.

For example, we tell them the idea. Person A tells person B, but person B thinks that Reason A means something else then it really does. So person B tells person C what HE thinks is right, and then we have a problem.

This idea has a lot of problems. Demonization of facts and misinterpretation are huge factors here. With these new things coming to light, do you still think it's a good idea?

With a Bulk Forum Post telling everyone, it allows less room for misinterpretation and demonization of the facts.

    I think Staff advisors. No.
Being told everything which is going on before the change happens. Test trial first then decide to keep it or not.

That's what I meant by the telephone game. You can tell me something and I can alter it anyway I see fit.

The advisor idea is dumb, there is no need for them.

I already said it once, but I'll say it again.

In conjunction with Ramza's post, and Echo, who has brought up very good points: Perhaps not a specific "Advisor" but why not simple threads opened in Site Discussion giving 'bite-sized' updates. Updates about what the staff is doing at this point and how you, the community feel about it.

I think this would lessen the potential hazard of misinforming users, yet still giving you guys a say in the PROCESS of what we're doing, and NOT having to fix it in the end when it's been released.

We took your opinion into account, Echo. I personally think it's a much better idea to just post about it on the forum rather than pick a select few to spread the word, allowing demonization.

The problem with this is there will always be YAYers and BOOers at the same time.

I like Mike's suggestion on how to approach this the most. I'm not a fan of the advisor idea at all. I know our beta testers are chomping at the bit for more things to do. What if we also ran some ideas by them?

I like what Mike said, I was going to suggest the same basic thing

Since giving a small amount members the information at a time could have major disadvantages
Give all the all of the members a small amount of information at a time

My take on it? The staff needs to have one head of staff and needs to have THAT pony post any and all updates after having a meeting with the other staff members so everypony on the staff is on the same page.

These posts should be made in an open(not locked) thread so if anypony(user, staff, whatever) has questions, the head of staff can directly answer it and ONLY the head of staff will answer in that thread, this way, no one is getting the wrong information. Post from users and other staff members should only be questions about the topic and the occasional "thanks" (soft delete any other kind of post to reduce any sort of confusion). That post should stay open for about 3-4 days, depending on the topic. Again, the only one in this topic who would be answering any questions would be the head of staff.

The post the head of staff would be making would be the entire thing, not just some part or little parts at a time because then there is room for rumors to start up which you guys clearly do not want, or frankly, need. The only things that should be left out is if a staff member is leaving for personal issues such as staff disagreements, getting fired, or something personal that is going on in their real lives.

Note that these suggestions would only work if both users and staff can remain mature in these sort of topics/threads.

This seems like the most logical choice to me from my past experiences . (sorry if my logic seems flawed, I'm half asleep typing this but I think I got my point across)

We've been discussing the topic all day in the staff room and there'll be an update on it later in the morning.
As of now, the majority of us, myself included, are in favor of tossing the idea for a simpler method, but some of the staff have yet to state their opinions.
    That's all for now.

    Alrighty, nobody updated this thread.

Anyway, we've binned the idea as of now. Carry on guys, and thank you for the feedback.
