I didn't find Derpy offensive but I don't find anything offensive to be honest. I prefered the old Derpy, I thought she sounded more cutely innocent. But it's not up to me. HASBRO and Studio B have got to do what they've got to do. As long as the show stays in production, I'm fine with whatever.
It should be considered a gift! I think Einstein had it too and he was one of the smartest people in history.
Autism, depending on its degree, isn't always a handicap. I believe it affects the way people see or analyze things and that's why some with autism are extremely intelligent. For all we know, Derpy wrecked the town hall creating a new energy source... or a Powerpuff Girl.
Actually, when Amy created that scene it was originally much longer and it explained what happened to town hall (bucking lightning bolts) and I may not remember this correctly but also explained Derpy's life a bit. But it was cut for it was a AJ episode not Derpy's and it was a bit too long of a scene. On another note, even though Derpy wasn't implemented for the reason of a lesson, doesn't mean it couldn't of been or more precisely, be. Who knows Derpy may not be seen up close again but we may still see our favorite BG character. I know the Flutters episode (19) was written a while before ep14 was finished but still, Derpy was in the background and that gives me hope.
