Eliza began walking, her shoulders hunched. Jude looked over at Sona for a second before following Eliza.
Eliza looked out across the horizon as a cold breeze blew across the meadow. Her brows furrowed and she was quiet before she looked back at the others. "I think we should try to get the next colony on our side," she said quietly.
"I think so," she said hesitantly. "They can't be happy, right? I mean... I think we could convince them..."
"Is.. Is the next colony going to be like the last one?" Sona asked, maybe sounding a little worried.
"I don't know," she said, looking over at her. "But there has to be something better than this, right?"
They set up camp about five miles away, still in a meadow, but out of sight of the train. Eliza stared into the flames, her brows furrowed in thought.
Vaughn sat beside the fire, looking thoughtful. He was annoyed that he felt so awake, and promptly stood up. "I'm going to scout around the tracks."
Eliza's head jerked up and she frowned. "That's not safe," she said, tilting her head. "They'll be on the lookout."
