He seemed embarrassed that he was offering, squinting at her. "I don't know. A piggy back ride, or something."
"Yes, I'm sure," she said, going quiet. After a moment she looked up at him, laughing anxiously. "You know, you intimidate me, Jude."
He frowned, raising an eyebrow critically. “After what you’ve lived through, I’m the one who scares you?”
She looked up at him, her brows furrowed. "You're not worse than Enforcers, obviously.. You just.. you make me nervous. Like you might be thinking critically of me all the time. B-but I don't actually know what you're thinking.." she trailed off before resting her hand on her forehead. "I'm.. I'm sorry, Jude. I don't know how to talk to people."
He looked down at her again, frowning at her. "Evidently," he said sternly, raising an eyebrow. "But, if what you're saying is true, apparently I don't know how to talk to people either. It must be a slave thing."
