Her head rested on his chest and she listened to his heartbeat. "Well, I scheduled an appointment with a physical therapist for you. He should be able to do an analysis and see if your legs can get better."
She sat up and gave him a small kiss. "I know you're upset," she said, straightening with his collar. "But I love you, if that helps at all."
She buried her face in his neck, her hands gentle as her fingers slipped through his hair. "I also called someone to talk about the stairs," she said after a moment. "I can't just have you living down here while all this is going on."
"Well," she said after a brief pause, "there are options. Ramps, elevators..." She paused before smirking at him. "That one chair that goes on the railing of the stair."
