“But what if he likes Melissa? A lot of guys like Melissa.”
"Then I'm not sure. You might to tell your mom you plan on marrying someone, though."
“No! You can’t tell her. I’m not allowed to date until I’m 16.”
"So.. You're breaking the rules?"
“Please don’t tell Mama.”
"Alright, fine. But this means you can't cry if something doesn't go your way with Matt."
“But... why not?”
"Then your mama will know."
“I can hide it.”
"You shouldn't cry over it anyways. You're better off if you don't."
“Wouldn’t you cry if Poppy said she didn’t want to marry you?”
He raised an eyebrow. "I made sure we loved each other first."
“Didn’t you get married fast?” she asked idly. “That’s what Ed said.”
He hesitated. "Yes. We did get married fast."
“Ed said that he was worried you guys were rushing it,” she said matter of factly.
Francis frowned. "That's.. alright. I think we'll be okay."
"He was reaally worried. He talked to Mama about it. Are you worried?"
"I'm not worried."
"Is Poppy worried?"
