"Stop that."
"I mean, I get it. They just didn't mean that much to you."
"Poppy, no."
"I really meant mine, if it makes you feel better. They meant a lot to me, actually."
"I meant mine too, Poppy."
"Evidently not," she said with a sigh, resting her head on her hands.
"Poppy, please."
"It's okay. I'll still be here. I'd rather be with you even if you don't love me back."
"I love you more than anything, Poppy."
"That's what they all say."
"Ugh."
"Ugh, indeed. You don't love me."
"How could you say that?"
"The proof is right in front of me."
"I love you."
She squinted at him, shaking her head slowly. "Untrue."
"I guess I'll just go back to the hotel."
"No," she protested, taking his hand. "Please don't."
"Well, you're certain that I don't love you."
