She paused before giving him a devilish grin and pushing his hand down to the table, leaning across to give him a fast kiss. "I won."
She grinned, reaching over and holding his jaw in her hand, her thumb brushing his bottom lip. "Don't be mad."
She laughed out loud, leaning back and taking a sip of her tea. "'I'm just disappointed.' Are you my dad now?"
"Oh, I'm sure he was. I dated Evan, remember?" She stretched before resting her head on her hand. "Besides, Clara and I were very different. She was much more social than I was. I don't think he really knew how to handle me."
"That doesn't mean he was disappointed in you. Not being social is nothing to be disappointed over, most of the time."
"No," she agreed lazily, scooting closer to the window to relish the sunlight streaming in through the glass. "I was just the first child he had that was more like him than my mother. So I was a little bit difficult for him to understand at first, I think."
