She tugged on his earlobe lightly, resting her head on his shoulder.

“Just saying.”

 

She rested her forehead in the curve of his neck.

"I'm awfully fond of you, husband."

 

Her hand curled against his chest, and he would be able to hear her smile.

"Even if it's abominable."

 

She listened to his heartbeat, quiet for a moment.

"I might be called out on another mission when we get back."

 

"I don't know," she said quietly, shaking her head. "It's uncertain right now."

 

"I don't want to either, my love," she said quietly, her hand on his face. "But it's my job."

 

She hesitated, her hand on his jaw.

"I wouldn't want you to go."

 

She sighed, looking down at their legs.

"But I have to. It's my work."

 

She hesitated before squeezing his hand.

"We'll talk about it when we get back."

 

She kissed his cheek before standing up.

"Want to go swimming?"
