She beamed at him, amusement crinkling her nose. "Well, you've succeeded," she said, settling her head into a pillow and closing her eyes. "I am blown away by your stoicism. It's truly impressive."
"Of course," she murmured, one eye opening to glance up at him. "But I'd like you to be honest about it. I'd like to help with it if I can."
"Your pride can handle it," she said, sitting up slightly to kiss him on the mouth. "Don't worry. I still think very highly of you."
His kisses were sloppy when he was loopy, and he would have missed her mouth completely if she had not instigated it. "Wow, I don't know what I did in the past life to deserve you," he said slowly, giving lots of thought into his words. "I don't think I do deserve you, but look! Here you are with me." He yawned. "I'm not good guy, and I don't know if you know that, but I'll always be good with you."
"Don't say that," she said, frowning as she laid back down. She buried her head in her pillow so that only her eyes were exposed, watching him intently. "You're always a good guy, with or without me."
He didn't say anything, only stared at the roof of the fort. "Okay, I believe you. If you say so, then I'll believe you," he said quietly, closing his eyes. "Goodnight."
It didn't take long for him to fall asleep. The day was just catching up to him, and he dozed off in minutes.
It took Poppy a little longer to fall asleep. Her thoughts were wandering, but eventually she sighed, dismissed them all, curled up next to Francis and fell asleep. (Time skip?)
(What else is new? ) Poppy woke suddenly, and her first emotion was confusion. She regarded the sheets hanging above her with an air of suspicion before she remembered the pillow fort, and laughed softly. She glanced over at Francis, her gaze affectionate, and she kissed him lightly on the cheek, trying to not wake him up. She settled back into her spot, allowing herself to stray into drowsiness once again. She had laid close to his side, and as she looked around with half-asleep eyes, her lips curved into a small smile.
(that's so cute oh jeez) He didn't quite wake up, only shifted slightly. His expression relaxed a bit when she kissed him, and he sleepily placed an arm around her. Minutes later, his eyes opened slowly and yawned.
(they are a very cute couple. that's why they're going to take over the world.) "Good morning," she murmured sleepily, her hand resting on his sternum, and her head leaning against his side
"Good morning," he said softly, looking around at the sheets, wondering what on Earth he did the night before.
"Pillow fort," she said, answering his unspoken question. She shifted slightly, enjoying the warm, languid feeling inside the fort. "You seem to have an inclination for those when you're loopy."
"Oh... Hm. I mean, apparently I'm not bad at building them. I hope I didn't annoy you last night." He rubbed her shoulder slowly. "Is this sling a bath towel?"
"It is indeed," she said, grinning up at him. "That was my one condition for building the fort. You had to wear a sling. Does it hurt at all?"
"Only a little, but I expected that. I brought it upon myself when I jumped at the guy, though," he said, looking down at his arm.
