Poppy muttered under her breath as another flash of pain went through her and she groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose. "*Squuuuueeeee*. Is he here yet?" she asked the nurse, her eyes wide. "Not yet," she said patiently, rubbing her shoulder.
She squeezed it, looking terrified. "Okay. This is okay. People have been doing this sinc- OW. Owowowowow."
Afterwards, Poppy lay quietly on her side in the bed, the baby in her arms. She didn't say anything, but she traced the baby's features with her finger, noting the small mop of auburn hair on her head.
She looked up at him after a moment, a small smile on her face. "She has your eyes," she said quietly.
She nodded slowly before sitting up gingerly, cradling her in her arms before looking up at him. "Would you like to hold her?"
