(World domination! It'll happen!) She squeezed his hand lightly and stepped closer to him, feeling security in his closeness. She looked down at their intertwined fingers, watching her thumb rub the side of his hand, before returning her gaze to his. "I love you, you know."
He kissed her forehead gently, relieved that the bad situation was over. "I love you too. Don't ever doubt that, despite what people might say."
She met his gaze for a moment, her expression still a little unsure. "Okay," she said quietly, trying for a small smile. "I'll do my best."
He looked down at their hands and sighed. "This isn't how I wanted our day to go at all. I was hoping it would be a bit better," he said softly, his tone a bit disappointed. "But it's alright. We'll have better days, right?"
She hesitated before kissing his cheek. "We'll have good days and we'll have bad days," she said in his ear, her voice soft. "And we'll make it through both." She kissed his cheek again, her lips just brushing his jaw. "It will all be alright."
"it will be alright," he murmured, repeating her words. When she kissed his cheek, he shuddered, though it was a good shudder. "I love you," he said quietly, his hand squeezing hers for a moment.
"I love you too," she whispered, her voice low. She brushed a lock of his hair behind his ear, her touch gentle, and her fingers lightly traced his jaw. "So, anyway," she said, returning her gaze to his eyes although their faces remained close. "What was that you said about wanting to go to the library or the observatory?"
"I just wanted to do something with you. The encounter with her left me annoyed, and I wanted to do something to calm down. You don't have to if you don't want to." The way he said 'her' was full of enmity, but his expression was calm.
"No, we can go," she said, sensing his distaste. She kissed him on the lips quickly and pulled away with a small smile. "I mean, what else are we going to do? Sleep?"
"Let's go to the library. I don't think I can play piano, but I can get to start writing that paper to get the time off," he said, half to himself as he planned.
She nodded and slipped her hand into his, closing her door shut with her other hand. "Yes. Let's go."
He held her hand tightly, like he was afraid he was going to lose her if he let go. "So what's your family like?" he questioned, looking down at her.
She considered the question for a moment. "Hm. Well, my dad is pretty quiet. He's a genius, I think, but he is often lost in his thoughts, so he'll trail off a lot."
"Hm.. Now I know where you got your intelligence from," he commented, a small grin forming on his face. "What about your siblings?"
She rolled her eyes at him, but she had a small flush on her face. "Well, I have four siblings. The order goes Clara, Edward, me, George, and Emma. Clara is 34, Ed is 31, George just turned 20, and Em is 15."
She hesitated as they turned down another hallway, and a strange expression came over her face. "Well," she said. "My mum actually passed away about a decade ago. But she was an astronomer."
He was silent for a moment, before speaking up. "Oh. I'm really sorry to hear that..." He rubbed the side of her hand with his thumb. "I didn't know."
She smiled up at him ruefully. "Of course you didn't know," she said reassuringly. "It was a natural thing to ask. Besides, like I said, it happened over a decade ago. I'm used to it."
