He considered him, but there may have been an element of fear in his eyes. "You're not going to do it."
Francis was quiet for a moment before a small smile crossed his face. He made sure Diana wasn't looking before pulling the trigger.
Diana screamed from the noise, turning her head from the gunshot, sobbing wildly. The man toppled to the floor and Derrick let him fall. "We should hurry."
He sighed, relaxing significantly as he held her in his arms. He brushed her hair back, comforting her gently.
Diana buried her face in his chest, still sobbing quietly as they approached the entrance. "So that's your girl, huh?" Derrick asked.
"You just shot a guy through the head and now you're talking about your wife and smiling and I'm honestly not sure if you're excited to hug her or shoot her."
"I figured," Derrick said good-naturedly. "I just don't see how you can be so light-hearted after just killing someone."
