Poppy’s face reflected intense relief and tears fell down her cheeks when she saw them. “Oh my God,” she murmured, coming over to them and embracing them. “Oh my God.”
She took a deep breath, resting her head on his chest and brushing back Diana’s hair. “You’re... you’re my hero, you know. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
She lifted the edge of her shirt, revealing thick bandages around her ribs. “I’m alright. What happened to you?”
She looked down at Diana, resting her forehead against hers. Diana cooed, her hands grabbing Poppy's hair, the auburn curls mixing with her own and becoming indistinguishable from her own. Poppy laughed slightly, tears rolling down her face as she reached up and cupped the baby's fat cheek in her hand. "Hey, baby girl," she murmured, kissing the tip of her nose. "Hey sweet girl."
She pulled away, taking Diana from his to relieve his arm. "C'mon Craw," she said quietly, wiping at her eyes. "Let's go get you checked out."
She rubbed his back as they walked, holding Diana close to her. "You were so brave, Craw," she said quietly.
She looked down at Diana, pausing for a moment as she thought about the situation. “Yeah,” she said eventually, softly, “our baby.”
