She tensed at the action, looking back at him with wide eyes before relaxing slightly, but still looking nervous. "Right. Sorry."
She got in the driver's seat and started up the car, still looking anxious as they left the parking lot.
They drove for a while and Poppy seemed lost in thought. They got onto the highway, and a horn honked behind them. Poppy jumped in surprise.
"No," she said, shaking her head quickly, her hand brushing her hair back. "Sorry. I'm just a little jumpy."
Her knuckles were white from squeezing the wheel so hard, biting her lip as they drove. "Can you tell me a story, Craw?" she asked, her voice quiet.
