He ran his fingers through her hair, staying quiet.
She gazed up at him adoringly, her gray eyes clear.
"Would you like to eat something?"
She started, as if surprised at her self before sitting up. “Oh, of course. Sorry.“
"What for?"
“Well, you’re probably hungry.”
"I'm wondering if you are."
She considered him for a moment before standing up. "What are you hungry for?"
"I'm asking you!"
“Hush,” she said with a playful grin, leaning down to kiss him. “What are you hungry for?”
"Anything, I suppose.."
“Anything? That’s dangerous.”
"Poppy, c'mon."
“I could feed you rotten steak.”
"I thought you loved me."
“I do. I adore you. But I’m just saying, you’re putting a lot of trust in me.”
"You asked."
“And you responded ‘anything’. So, that’s what I’m going to give you.”
He sighed, saying nothing.
She studied him for a moment before kissing the tip of his nose. “Don’t be cross.”
