She laughed lightly and straightened his tie, her fingers quick and deft. "Just maybe, Craw," she said affectionately. "Just maybe."
"Well," she said, dragging out the word. She brushed his hair back affectionately, a small smile crossing her face. "I've got to go get some more of those darts from Phos. You're welcome to come if you'd like."
"Yeah, I'll come. It's better than sitting around in my room, right?" He drew shapes onto the back of his hand, lightly pressing on the bruises.
She took his non-sprained hand, and lightly pressed it to her lips where the bruises had become ugly colors. "Lovely," she said quietly, glancing up at him. "Let's go."
They were quiet as they walked hand-in-hand towards the lab. Poppy bit her lip in thought as her mind wandered. "So, we have a mission tomorrow evening," she said eventually. "What was the name? Mrs... Irvine?"
"Yes, I believe that's right. And we'll have our own guards with us, to assure nothing else happens," he replied, trying to recall what was said during the meeting.
"That's reassuring," she said as they approached the entrance to the lab. "I feel like two kidnappings in one week might be a little too much."
(We're both veterans! We should go onto some sagging porch somewhere, knock back shots of whiskey and reminisce about 'the good ol' days') She grinned back, her brow raised slightly as they passed through the doorway. "Goofus," she retorted, her expression challenging.
(All while complaining about those darn millennials!) "Oh, no. Just stop there. You win." He frowned with distaste, putting a hand on his head.
("When I was your age, we were sick and dying all the time, and we were GLAD about it!") She laughed, delighted as they approached Phos' table. "I've found my trump card," she said, grinning up at him. "I now hold all the power."
(LOL) He shook his head, letting go of her hand to cross his arms. "Keep telling yourself that. You only hold most of the power."
She grinned at him as Phos approached them. "Don't make me start fake crying," she muttered before Phos spoke up. "Hello, you two!" he said cheerfully. "What brings you here?" "Hey Phos," Poppy said. "Listen, those darts that you put in that bag were really a life saver. Do you think you could make more?" Phos frowned and drummed his fingers on the desk. "Hm. I'm sure I could..." he said thoughtfully. "Could you possibly grab me some Azaperone? I might have some left in cabinet 'L'." Poppy stood up and hesitated. "Azaperone?" she asked, turning to him with a raised eyebrow. "Really?" Phos nodded eagerly. "Yes. I've found a dosage that makes it work wonderfully well in humans," he said, obviously delighted. "Much like it does with the pigs, it lowers aggression first before making them pass out." Poppy frowned but went to go to the cabinets on the walls to find the chemical. "And how are you, Mr. Craw? How's that wrist?" (I'm pretty sure Phos just sends Poppy away so he can dig.)
"A bit better than before. I'm sure I haven't been putting enough ice on it, but it'll be fine. How are you?" (I'd believe it.)
"Some more of that dream stuff for Poppy," he said, frowning. "I don't understand what I missed here. I think perhaps I did Step Four before I should have." He consulted his notebook with a frown.
