She would be just like he remembered, everything fitting properly and the faint smell of rose water and lavender lingering, her hands warm against his neck.
She took his hand with a frown, tugging him slightly. “Just come home with me,” she pleaded. “They can’t hurt us without us knowing.”
She looked down at the ground, biting her lip to keep it from trembling. She was obviously disappointed, but she didn’t say anything.
She hesitated, clasping his hands desperately. “Maybe we could run somewhere,” she urged. “I could get home, get Diana, and we could meet you somewhere.”
Her brows were furrowed and he would recognize her expression from when she was working in the lab; she was frantically calculating, her eyes darting around. “What did they say to you?”
She held his face in her hands before kissing him, her hair brushing his cheek. “Meet me at the Hotel Melano, okay? Tonight. I’ll bring Diana.”
