Her fingers curled into his shirt and she took a deep breath, pulling away reluctantly. "You probably want to go see the babies, right?"
"God, I missed you," she murmured, pulling away for a moment, her thumb brushing his cheekbone. "It was starting to feel like I wouldn't get to see you again for years."
She laughed slightly, her gaze warm and trusting. "I have complete faith in you, you know? When you said that, I instantly thought, 'right, of course he wouldn't let that happen'. You're my hero, honestly."
She slipped out of bed and headed down the hall, returning a few minutes later with a squirming baby. His eyes were now a clear grey and he gurgled in Poppy's arms.
