"Huh," she said quietly, her hand on his chest. She leaned over and kissed his skin. "I should have been more thorough with my search, then."
"What did he expect?" she complained, leaning her head back. "You were going to miss your son's birth?"
"He wouldn't let me see you.." He looked down. "I told you I would be there, but.. I didn't want to disappoint you."
He would be able to recognize her expression from the lab; she was studying him as she studied specimens under the microscope. After a few moments, she sighed and slipped onto his lap, lifting his head with her fingertips. "Don't worry, Craw. I'm not angry."
