She sighed before pulling away. "I'm sorry."
"It's okay. I'll see you tonight."
“See you tonight.”
He kissed her cheek, his expression adoring.
She ran her fingers through his hair for a moment before pulling away, heading for the door.
He sighed, watching her go."

The door opened that evening, and Poppy entered, looking tired.
Francis was at work, but he would be home soon.
She shrugged off her coat and went to the kitchen, opening the fridge to begin to make dinner.
He would arrive a bit later.
Poppy’s head was bent over her work, but she looked up. “Francis?”
He closed the door behind him. "I'm here."
She beamed, coming out of the kitchen and kissing him. "Hey, you."
He set Diana down from carrying her, James in the other. "Hey. How was your day?"
"It was alright," she said, taking James. "There was a noxious leak in the Lab, but..."
"I.. see?"
"Yeah. How was your day?"
