She dimpled slightly at him and steadied the gun before leaning around the corner and shooting. A loud thud followed.

 

She gave him back the gun and the guard laid on the ground, unmoving.

“Thanks.”

She followed him, looking around nervously.

 

The outside was blinding, the sun shining through.

"Go, go," Poppy urged.

 

They got out and hurried down the street, heading for the ship.

 

She paused as they got a good distance away, her eyes widening.

"Oh my God. Francis, we almost just got captured."

 

"Oh my God. Oh my God. Our bodyguards were shot in the head."

 

Her eyes were wide, and she looked at him for a moment, blinded by her panic.

"Oh my God."

 

Her breathing was quickening, and she looked up at him.

"We almost never saw our children again."
